Powering on an SS Amp Should be no problem, but why do it? Unless your bench testing/measuring.But never power up a tube amp without speakers, or resistive load attached, as sometimes they can go into oscillation which can take out the output transformers.Cheers George

Synergistic Red Fuse ... +1 on the "Or consumer fraud"+1 on the "the fuse rating issue remains a dangerous thing" "Fuse blew? Try one rated higher"This last one will void warranties', and lead to declined insurance claims.Cheers George
CDP or DAC with high end volume control Look for a CDP or DAC that has a max gain adjustment, so the digital volume control can be used at or almost full on your system. Because in most cases if the volume is too low it can lead to "bit stripping", this can happen if below 75%. Wadia, M...
Synergistic Red Fuse ... different melting points ??????It is the melting point (blow point) that determines the amperage. If they blow and the other don't, they're wrongly rated. Do not up the amperage as you don't know what your getting, and your warranty of the equipme...
Any comments on DAC going direct to power amplifier or to pre-ampliifer? DACs can absolutely add brightness/ listener fatigueI put this to those that have this problem. If your dac does this, then isn’t it worth looking for a new one that doesn’t? Not by slipping in an expensive piece of equipment to hide/colour that s...
Any comments on DAC going direct to power amplifier or to pre-ampliifer? Initially, the direct connection seemed more dynamic with more detail but the preamp added more warmth, less fatiguing and more realistic soundstage. Ears are the best judges. True, if the transparency/dynamics of a direct connection became fatigu...
Which pre should I choose? faust168The A47 has a very low 20k input impedance, suggest you stay away from tube preamps, one because they can be an impedance mismatch, two they are also capacitor coupled, and if that capacitor is not big enough it could roll the bass off too...

Any comments on DAC going direct to power amplifier or to pre-ampliifer? hgeifman+1 for going direct, my mate has the Bricasti and using it direct also, beats all the very expensive preamps he has. For it to sound it’s best you have to adjust it’s "full output" I believe either inside or via the programing, so that whe...

Wadia 850 repair? Suggested replacement? From Mojo Music Inc."When a PCM file is played on a DSD or Bit Stream converter, the DAC chip has to convert the PCM to DSD in real time. This is one of the major reasons people claim DSD sounds better than PCM, when in fact, it is just that the c...
Wadia 850 repair? Suggested replacement? Why not just by a new OPPO 203 or 205 or a 105D? The sound will be better than your old Wadia;Really!!On pcm Redbook, CD's which the OP obviously uses either 16/44 or 24/96, the Wadia will slay those Oppo’sCheers George |
