We need DAC's with tone controls and EQ
This is said by a few on Agone to work very well as an eq'erhttp://www.schiit.com/products/loki Cheers George
Equalizers- love them or hate them and why?
From reports of some that have used these here, on their good systems, this seems to be very good. Not much to look at, but has what it takes inside. http://www.schiit.com/products/loki Cheers George
Does anybody own a Jeff Rowland Daemon Integrated Amp.?
I used to respect all Rowland amps and circuit designs in the days when they were linear, but to me when they changed direction to Class-D, my respect didn't go with them, but their chassis sure looks the goods, if that's your bag.Cheers George
Interesting survey
How much newly released music do you listen to?5% Quite a bit14% Some34% Not much47% None This makes sense to me for dedicated audiophiles, but the opposite may very well be true, if you bring in i-pod, server, ect users into it as they love ne...
Wilson Audio Sophia 3 vs Watt Puppy 7
Wilson had to upgrade the then WP6 with WP7 Two of my friends one a reviewer, who loved what they had with the 7's compared to their 5's and 6's were enticed by the importer with great change over price to "upgrade" their 7's to the new 8's. Bo...
Best amp to power Krell LAT 1000s? Krell Evo One, 575, Momentum, ASR Emitter II, MSB 203?
The ASR uses Mosfets, and this "could" be an indication of limited current drive as tested by Stereophile. Doing 285w into 8ohms then only 128w into 4ohms." The bottom trace was taken with both channels driven into 8 ohms; it stops at 285W (24.5d...
Why is the snake oil topic closed?
I have had several costly tweaks in my system for some years now. Were I to suddenly toss them all, I seriously doubt that I would miss them. Well said. +1Cheers George
Best amp to power Krell LAT 1000s? Krell Evo One, 575, Momentum, ASR Emitter II, MSB 203?
theoriginalsmith OP4 posts12-03-2017 6:42amGot it. Thanks, George! I know the Momentum 300, the Evolution One, and MSB can double down to 2 ohms, and the ASR pushes all the way down to 1 ohm. I believe the Krell Solo 575 goes down to 2 ohm as wel...
Best amp to power Krell LAT 1000s? Krell Evo One, 575, Momentum, ASR Emitter II, MSB 203?
There's no impedance vs -phase graph done on these, but if they're anything like the LAT1, you'll need an amp that is known for it's current delivery.  Things to look for, independent test on the amp that state it can almost double it's wattage fr...
Looking for some recommendations about preamp options
bryantdrew Your Deccaware Tori has INPUT IMPEDANCE: 100 K OHMSINPUT SENSITIVITY: FULL POWER @ 2.0 VOLTS Not very high gain.If you use a passive/tvc type pre, then your source should be able to have over 2v output and have less than 1kohm output i...
My apologies_Upgrade path from Wilson WattPuppy 7's?
Gerry the Wilson 7’s needs good current to sound their best full stop. The Mac 275 cannot do that, it would have to almost double it’s wattage for each halving of speaker load. EG: 8ohms- 75w4ohms-150w2ohms-300wThis is why Stereophile reviewed the...
My apologies_Upgrade path from Wilson WattPuppy 7's?
(1) My McIntosh 275 VI has been measured at 90 watts, and has more than adequate current to drive the Wilson WP7 speakers that I own; Sorry to say, it may sound good, but you have never heard the WP7’s at their best, with this amp.You said in you...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
If anyone gets the rechargeable Li-Ion battery pack, I'd be interested to know what difference/s you guys hear with it if you can post it up.  As It's getting harder and harder to find linear mains adaptors (smp's "switch modes" are taking over) a...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
Batteries??? Yes as I measured above they are 20uV quieter on test bench, but you’d have to be a "super bat" to hear that sort of difference. But all including myself hear something different that we can’t put a finger on, but we all prefer it (ma...
Most transparent power amp
Sorry I meant F4, the signal still still passes through active IRFP240-9240 Mosfets, so it's not passive, even if it has no gain, it's still activeCheers George
