DENAFRIPS DAC ---- Owner Impressions, Feedback, General Discussion, Questions and more.... smodtactical I am thinking either R2R7HE or Terminator. Any opinions? Terminator has proven itself in many forums, and up against the much more expensive PS Audio here's a video on the three way shootout.https://www.stereo.net.au/forums/topi...
Advice on pre-amps needed frankpiet Or Frank, if you want to go full balance all the way with what I suggested above, your Audio Aero has balanced outputs as well controlled by it's volume control, and the Goldpoint comes in balanced also. Myself I'd stick with the rc...
KEF blades 2 or Dynaudio C4? Looking from the amp driving them point of view the Kef is far harder to drive than the Dynaudiohttps://www.stereophile.com/images/615KEF2fig01.jpghttps://www.stereophile.com/images/archivesart/DynConfFig1.jpgI'd say the Lux mono's could handle ei...
Upgrade from Pass Labs XA30.8 to X250.8. Worth it? Really hard to find some specs on the DM-947's but I found this" its highly sensitive with a smooth impedance curve"If this is true, stick with the XA30.8, it will sound better so long as you don't want to throw a rock party with it.Cheers George
Advice on pre-amps needed soundsrealaudio561 posts09-17-2018 7:56amI thought the Audio Aero had a volume control. No? It does and a very good one, read my post above yours.Cheers George
Advice on pre-amps needed frankpiet Your Aero has 5v!! output at 100ohms output impenance with it’s own analogue volume control with the remote, this is by far enough to drive any power amp direct (most only need around 1.5v for full output!!), and you’ll have far better t...
Autoformers, The Benefits in matching amp to speaker I have never heard ANY active xover (tube, S/S or even digital) sound better in the lower-mids/mids/highs, from >150hz up, into my ESL’s than the 18db passive xover it came with it. (very very much like the difference in sound quality between a...
Autoformer vs Speaker impedance Curve I would like to know how to measure that. 30% is hard to imagine. +1
Sonic Frontiers SFD-2 MKIII I must say they are a very nice sounding unit. But watch out for any minuscule noises as the Ultra Analogue dac converters are prone to fail and are unobtainum. If one goes, it's a door stop.Cheers George
Pass X150 vs Krell FPB 200 If you had very hard to drive speakers, I’d say the Krell, but seeing your speakers can nearly be powered by rubbing two sticks together then the Pass. Both are big time overkill. Something like a First Watt F5 turbo would be a killer amp for thes...
Autoformer vs Speaker impedance Curve 73max OP Guess that explains the bloated bass when I run 802D3s on my tube amp. From Stereophile:" 802 D3's 8, because the bass was entirely devoid of bloat or emphasis or resonance. Despite this, there was no lack of authority when that ...
Autoformer vs Speaker impedance Curve 73max OP bloated bass when I run 802D3s on my tube amp 60 Watt push pull, KT88, “some” local negative feedback Without global feedback to keep the output impedance low, you probably have quite high output impedance giving you very mediocre damp...
Sonic Frontiers SFD-2 MKIII I think you'll have to stand in line for that one.Cheers George
Looking for ideas - new mono blocks for stereo music eohtar OP Others that sound (no pun intended) interesting but will be a lot harder to get a hold of in Canada:Parasound Halo JC1 - around 6K USD Good choice the JC1's if you get a pair, in high bias mode they sounded really good on Wilson A...
Solid State vs. Tubes - What if Transistors came first? With all the tube amps I've built/owned/modded (SE, PP, ect). The better I made them sound and measure, the closer to the better transistor amp/s they got.Cheers George |
