Quad ESL 63 In Another League Now
During the last few months for the fun of it I added better power cords, though Kent said they cannot make a difference well I can tell you they do and they do in a big way, so if you own any Electrostatic speakers you owe it to yourself to put b...
I need your suggestion for a Preamp.
audiomaster The power amp is a Levinson 431, driving a pair of B&W Matrix 801 S3. I am using a Levinson 390S CD processor to drive 431, the sound is not too bad, but I need a couple of more inputs as I intend to use a TT and add a blu ray pla...

Lightning quick DYNAMIC amp in the under $1000 range
The Hypex NC400 is stable down to 1ohm. The ICE ASC300 is stable down to 2.5ohm. And the rest of that story goes. Because of severe current limiting, my car radio is super stable it can take a dead short all day long so can my walkman, that does...
DENAFRIPS DAC ---- Owner Impressions, Feedback, General Discussion, Questions and more....
I have to admit I'm now in the 'amazed' camp in terms of how impressed I am with it's continued upward (performance) mobility and how well it continues to scale. All traits of R2R Multibit dac conversion with PCM.We were really led astray whe...
Lightning quick DYNAMIC amp in the under $1000 range
Not surprising for a class D amp. kosst, I think it’s linear, but still just looking under it’s skirt, the Vidar gets my nod by a long way. STA-200 https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?attachments/nuforce03-jpg.17070/Vidar https://w...
Question About Audio Research Preamp Specs
The reason ARC didn't do this initially was simply because the larger you make a coupling cap the more coloration no matter what type of construction. Take that with a grain of salt. I do prefer direct coupling (no cap), best cap is no cap men...
Lightning quick DYNAMIC amp in the under $1000 range
bstatmeister OP So what determines good dynamics? A fast stable amp (extended FR) , good current ability, decent stiff power supply, that’s under control with low output impedance (good damping factor). EG: an amp that can "double" its wattage f...
Question About Audio Research Preamp Specs
audioconnection  George Makes great sense here. easy to have a tech make the resistor changes on the power amp .sometimes I wonder if guys like Rowland and McCormick make amps input Imp so low that only their own preamps have an advantage even ...
CD Transports
This Cambridge CXC transport spdif output wave form is even better with the scope loaded better. Much faster rise time and sill no jitter to see. They said it’s only got 5 ps of jitter in the specs.https://ibb.co/hZFzDhYCheers George
CD Transports
if you read the linked story, there are listed FOUR parts to the quality of the transport, not just ’jitter’. Jitter and frequency are one of the main ones you can look at yourself if you have the equipment, as Lamipzator said what I sent him th...
Question About Audio Research Preamp Specs
dsper What does the "20K ohms minimum load" tell me? As mzkmxcv stated 8 x output to input ratio is even fine. But in this case the AR preamp would be capacitor coupled output, and the roll off in the low frequency could be too high if the partne...
CD Transports
I can say as a casual entrant into the field of digital playback, the transport does make a difference. That’s because of the jitter created from the output as I’ve shown in my above post, and that Lampizator explains.Cheers George
CD Transports
daj2832 CD Transports Here is a great read on transports, and how they differ, look esspecially at the scope shots down the bottom of the digital output wave form of the spdif output, here lays the answers.http://lampizator.eu/LAMPIZATOR/TRANSPO...
This Schitt is totally refreshing in the world of high end audio!
Just check the measurements of that Schitt. Schitty. Funny, as that goes for any tube, unless some idiot has put a schiit load of feedback around it to make it look like solid state, then it would sound like schiit.
