Which stereo amp to try under $30k
mayoradamwest OP almargThe impedance curves shown in John Atkinson’s measurements of your speaker indicate, on paper at least, that the speaker is highly unfriendly to tube amplification. Especially in key parts of the bass region that you are c...
What Class D amps will drive a 2 ohm load
How about plasma drivers crossed over to electrostatic panels for lower freq. Funny you should bring them up.Which is what I use, ACI SV12's in 5cuft IB enclosures xover at 130hz to big esl's, xover at 10khz to MP-02 plamsa's  https://www.eba...

self deleted, cant stoop to his level.
What Class D amps will drive a 2 ohm load
I ask you to provide a list of amps that have guts. I request this, Sorry, if you search I've already given many examples, and you should really know if your debating this in this thread.Cheers George
What Class D amps will drive a 2 ohm load
Of these only the Thiel is really difficult to drive. You are in a world of denial now.
power amp/pre amp input and output impedence question
"Same for poweramp to speaker."???? Yes "damping factor", stretching this one a little, but the lowest impedance of the speakers curve can also have the 1:10 rule applied to it that the amp is 10 lower than it or even better. So if the speaker is ...
What Class D amps will drive a 2 ohm load
I just saw the impedance curve. Wow, that’s pretty brutal. They do do this for laughs do they?.Put it this way, what advantage is there for a speaker manufacturer like Wilson, Thiel, ML esl’s, MBL, Sonus Faber JM labs ect ect ect ect to make thei...
Usher R 1.5 power amp a good buy today?
Good amp.I had the R2.5 for repair, they sound good if biased A up to around 50c heat sink on a hot day, I showed the circuit to Nelson, and they did put another gain stage in before the driver compared to his Stasis models, to which he said, good...
power amp/pre amp input and output impedence question
kgveteran yogiboy The rule of thumb is the input impedance should be at least 10 times the output impedance! What yogi said is correct, the ratio of 1:10 or more.EG: CD or dac output impedance = 100 ohms, preamp input impedance should be 1000ohm...
Should I need a pre amp for one source?
benzman OP The Ldr passives look great but again climbing back up in price. Mines only $525aud = ($354usd) posted, and that’s with the price rise, I still think and been told it’s way to cheap. If your able to use a soldering iron you can adapt t...
Should I need a pre amp for one source?
benzman OP I just like to leave the digital sources at 100 and let the pre take care of volume while increasing the voltage. Good idea that way you don’t run the risk of bit stripping if the digital domain volume control is under 75% of full. (Bu...
Should I need a pre amp for one source?
benzman Your Cary has up to 3v output from a nice low 220ohm source and it has a volume control just do a direct to amp connection for the most transparent/dynamic sound you can get, any preamp will detract from these and add coloration/distortio...
What Class D amps will drive a 2 ohm load
Can you provide some examples? If you don’t know that, you may as well give up, and apply for lawn bowls, just look at the OP's speaker for one.
What Class D amps will drive a 2 ohm load
Plain and simple low impedance speaker loads are a Bad Idea Sez you, some of the very best are insanely hard to drive, and why class-d, OTL and you have a problem with that.
Pass Labs AMP’s- What is the best Pass Amp Sound for You from past 10 years
The one I loved was the 250w Threshold S/500 STASIS OPTICAL BIAS II, biased up to approx 20w Class-A, nice and toasty, delicate but a brute when called for, 36 x bipolar output transistor, heaps of current.Cheers George
