More Power or use subwoofer to boost bass for music
xcool OP The combined impedance and -phase angle graph shows these 804’s are a hard load in the bass from 60hz to 150hz where all the power is needed https://www.stereophile.com/images/913B804fig1.jpgYet the frequency response shows that they have...
Ideal amp for B&W matrix 800
I guess the answer truely lies in good powercords here Sorry you and I are on different planets with that one.Cheers George
Ideal amp for B&W matrix 800
Just found out on a Polish site they use Saken Darlington output devices, not in your favor, they've never been taken too by the other guru's of the hifi world, and possibly why there’s no 2ohm spec anywhere.Cheers George
Ideal amp for B&W matrix 800
they do not have 2 ohm specs though... would they be less then optimal? Hard to say blueskywalker usually if there’s no 2ohm wattage spec, by manufacturer or by testing it means it better not to divulge it.They are linear amps that’s in their fav...
Ideal amp for B&W matrix 800
blueskywalker Ideal amp for B&W matrix 800Between 55hz to 250hz (most of the bass) they have a load (impedance plus - phase angle) that demands current from an amp to get the best out of them. Amps that can almost double their 8ohm wattage to...
Cross-talk and distortion, chief soundstage contributors...
Is this measured? Are we measuring this? What is the measurement? You can simply do it yourself without any measuring gear, put a 10kohm pot between L and R channels on the output of your source, and get some one to slowly reduced it till it shor...
To horn or not to horn
Not much love 🤷‍♂️Try switching the question around the other way and you'll probably be killed in the rush.Cheers George
Should I be able to hear a 4Hz difference in my speakers?
Should I be able to hear a 4Hz difference in my speakers? https://youtu.be/ogVCRHn17CE?t=24Not if it's un-distorted or not resonating something in the room.Cheers George

listening99 OP The "bleeding" of information from one channel to the other, is what I'm seeking to understand - how does this impact sound-stage?The more you bleed left and right towards mono, the better the central image becomes, and the wor...
Class D is just Dandy!
Was it this ?https://vacuumtubevalues.com/product/27564/ and now this? https://vacuumtubevalues.com/product/vtv-stereo-amplifier-with-purifi-1et400a-and-vtv-custom-buffer-input/
Break-in ?
The question remains why don’t manufacturers bed, burn, or break in their products as part of their provision. This should be especially true when it comes to products commanding 5 or 6 figure price tags. I said it before in so many words, "they ...
Network Transport vs. CD Transport
audphile1 OP (remember the Marantz player is over 20 years old).I have faith in the Marantz, but should have at least evened up the playing field a little as far as age goes, and got a Cambridge CXC to do this A/B with instead of the 20 year old ...
Break-in ?
jchiappinelli OP I realize that almost all audio gear requires break-in before things reach their full potential. Don't let the "snake oiler's" tell you electronic components need weeks, months, years, to "burn in" they don't most stuff has...
Schiit Loki
rvpiano I finally talked myself into actually inserting it. Now, I discover what a fool I’ve been.It doesn’t compromise the sound, but indeed enhances it. Yes if your system needs it, it’s definitely the way to go to fine tune (EQ) your sound. A...
I like my Peachtree Nova300 more than my new (to me) Pass XA30.5 HELP!
adam8179 OP It’s not that the highs aren’t there, it’s just a crispness that’s different and may be a characteristic of class-DI think it could be explained better that the highs from the Pass XA30.5 would wash over you with it’s detailed sound w...
