Why "Cryo" anything? Bob P. - what does one thing have to do with the other? That's like saying people who think tube amps sound better than solid state amps believe that turntables sound better than CD players. A straw dog argument if ever there was one. You'll have ...
Why "Cryo" anything? Is this some kind of set-up? Nobody dips anything into a cool solution. Almost everyone knows cryo treatment is a two-day affair. This is some sort of joke, right?
How do you deal with vibration? The high mass approach will only get you so far, since the high mass will move right along with the building structure under influence of sesimic type vibration. A much more effective approach is the mass-on-spring concept - i.e., decoupling the c...
Why "Cryo" anything? Ejliu, I would think cryo treatment comprises a complete cooling and (re)heating cycle; i.e., the return to room temperature constitutes "heating" in my book. No heating above room temp is required, but I suppose it could be used along w/ cryo in ...
Why "Cryo" anything? Ejliu, w/ MS Materials Science Eng., surely you must know that cryo treatment is the same as "cold tempering," and has the same sort of affect on materials as "heat tempering."
Why "Cryo" anything? Couldn't have anything to do with the optical characteristics of the poycarbonate layer, could it?
cones or amp stand-??? Exactly! Same goes here.
cones or amp stand-??? Respectfully disagree that airborne vibrations are the chief culprit in most audio systems. In fact, I would go so far as to say that airborne vibrations are significantly less critical than seismic vibrations. So we disagree substantially on this...
cones or amp stand-??? Since the entire house/apartment structure is moving due to the sesimic vibrtation, rigid structures will only ensure the component vibrates along with the seismic motion. That is the point of Shannon Dickinson's article! -- that something besides...

Isolation Platform - to be or not to be for CDP? Tbg - If the Lindemann's special "damping feet" were used in your comparison, I can see where the performance of Nimbus might possibly have suffered, as Nimbus requires very high stiffness/hardness type feet for best results. There a quite a few o...
Isolation Platform - to be or not to be for CDP? tbg - Two Questions: which MD stand are you referring to? How can you be so sure it was set up correctly?
Isolation Platform - to be or not to be for CDP? tgb, undoubtedly something is amiss as my stands are nothing if not dynamic, regards GK
Living Stereo SACD Releases Mercurys prior to number SR90275 (approx) were recorded using analog tape, then 35 mm tape was used - but not exclusively. SR90282 was recorded on analog tape for example. So, many of the great Mercurys were recorded using analog tape. Cheers. |
