Hi-Fi Fuses - SNAKE OIL? - or something in it?
Mapman wrote,"GEoff, I was expecting a refute or at least denial of my "charlatan" comment, not insults directed towards a chair."My bad. I thought you called me a harlequin.
Where Coming Back
Dayglow, looks good on paper. I suspect the masses just want more and more convenience and not too concerned with the sound quality except in a general kind of way. I am pretty sure there are a lot less audio stores today, not more, since Excalibe...
Power cord connectors
Well, one thing's for sure, those big hollow dumaflaches resonate.
Where Coming Back
The high end store Excaliber in Alexandria closed it's doors around 1986, signaling the death of high end.
The Irrational But Efficacious CD Tweak
Mapman wrote,"Wouldn't surprise me if designed tone bursts change the sound for the better in some cases.I get my Stax headphones to sound their best (loosened up?) by playing at what would be painfully loud volumes for a minute or two before I pu...

Radio shack bulk tape erasers should be easy and inexpensive to find on eBay for twenty bucks or so, at least the last time I looked. There is a bit of a trick to using bulk tape erasers on CDs and thst is not to hold it too close and only swirl i...
Hi-Fi Fuses - SNAKE OIL? - or something in it?
Mapman wrote,"I actually rip all my CDs to music server these days. I never play a CD directly, so there is no music making occurring anywhere near the actual CD. Lots of bad things can happen in theory reading an optical disc in real time to make...
How many fuses in a McIntosh MC275?
Nothing wrong with blind tests per se but it's certainly a mistake to think that if someone cannot hear a fuse or whatever in a blind test that the fuse or whatever doesn't work in other systems. There are many reasons why audiophiles get null or ...

Jea48, thanks for posting the Bedini patent. Makes a lot of sense. ;-)
Seeking alternatives to Oppo
I have an Oppo 103, albeit a modded one with all the bells and whistles such as a bunch if WA Chips, cryo'd power cord, blah blah blah. Trust me, syrupy and rose-colored and Hi Fi it ain't.
