Mu metal absorbs magnetic fields. Not RFI/EMI. HEL-looo!

Nice response Al. You almost made me believe it. Lol. Funny how science works -- if you calculate things or make decisions based on measurements in order to decide which audio things to buy you'd probably miss a lot of the really good stuff.

Al, I used to work with Pierre who runs Mapleshade and am quite sure of my facts. The Omega Mikros are the brainchild of Ron Bauman. I was exhibiting at the CES with Mapleshade and those 54 ga cables way back when. You might have missed my post wh...

The Mapleshade Omega Mikros are 54 ga. That's teeny tiny in technical terms.
How important is a good rack?
Well, frankly, since most racks amplify structural vibrations, even solid well constructed racks, the best sonic results will actually be obtained by placing components directly on spikes or cones on the floor.

Funny. They all sound the same. Hilarious.

The world is full of pseudo skeptics, I mean skeptics. ;-)
Brass screws make a real difference on Dunlavy s ?
I don't think there's any doubt about brass screws sounding better than steel ones. It's not like there hasn't been tons of discussion about this particular tweak for years. Get with the program.

I've heard the 54 ga Omega Mikros from Mapleshade. Now, those are impressive!

Double blind tests confirm not audible difference between coat hangers and Monster Cable. Just what we always suspected. ;-)

Brauser, actually your OP was focused on brass screws not tighening existing screws? Have you forgotten already? Lol

It's obviously a magnetism issue. Even teflon screws will illustrate that. The ferrous type screws cause a subtle but quite audible perturbation in the magnetic field lines of the speaker magnet. Another option would be to demag the screws periodi...
Phasing out of Compact Disc
The real victim in all this was audio cassettes, which if you'll pardon me for saying so are more musical and more dynamic than either LP or CD. By the end of the cassette era the frequency response was quite good, good enough considering how inhe...
You know you're an audiophile if--
If you have a big bunch of RCA Living Stereo CDs but never play them.
SP10mk2: OMA Graphite plinth vs.Dobbins plinth
While preferring not to contradict anyone on stuff I cannot refrain from saying, in my own opinion, that Sorbothane, while seeming to be a perfectly good damping material, is actually not. Now, someone might possibly find some place where Sorbotha...
