RS A1 Labs rewire I would not do it. The tiny wires are there for a reason. They are very thin and flexible so the hearshell spins freely without resistance. If you really, really want to attempt this, make sure the new wires are light and flexible as the original ...
Thoughts on "EL-Cheapo" LP flattener? I believe "dishing" cannot be fixed by a commercial flatener. My friend has an Air tight flatener and it seems that it cannot fix dishing problems. Have tried it a couple times especially on those paper thin vinyl.
arguments against starting a vinyl collection? Czbbcl, For starters, the Technics 12xx would be a good choice. You can get them as cheap as $399??? Do a search on the forums. It's a solid table FWIW. You can do a lot worse for a lot more $. Get an Audio Technica/Denon cartridge and a PS audio ...
Dynavector XV-1s set up I just replaced my old XV1 with a brand new XV1s (still not broken in only 2-3 hrs play as we speak). I found them sound best tracking at 2.0-2.05g with minimal antiskate.
arguments against starting a vinyl collection? A properly setup $1500 TT combo (TT, preamp) will I won't say sound better than your EMM Labs but will give you a much more satisfying musical presentation/performance than any digital will. Listening to analog is an experience. IMO, digital at it...
Technics SL1200MK2 Cartridge Discussion Spraglow, go to http://www.kabusa.com/and navigate through it. There is a chart that lists the difference is the 1200 series tables. I believe the one to get is the 1210 M5G with better 1 piece internal wiring. I believe the finishing looks better...
Technics SL1200MK2 Cartridge Discussion Just picked up a 1200 mk2. Will be doing some mods on it first. Have a couple cartridges lying around that I will mount on it and report back. Have a Crown Jewel SE and a Dynavector XV1. WIll get to it this weekend and let you guys know the outcom...
Well Tempered Reference Vs Nottingham Hi, your WTT is miles ahead of a $2500 Nottingham. Going Nottingham would be taking a few steps backwards. Like others have said, there is not much if any at $2500 new or used that would match your WTT.
Mounting of a tonearm. Thanks Doug for providing a good insight to IGD. IMO, IGD is most likely caused by a worn stylus.
Why the sudden popularity of 12 inch arms Shane, the major differences I find between 12" and it's 9" counterpart is the way the music is presented. The shorter arm would have better detail, speed, transparency and more of the hi-fi thing (if that's what you're looking for) while the long...
Best Cartridge for Less than $500 Audio Technica OC9 for $299http://www.needledoctor.com/Audio-Technica-OC9-CartridgeGreat cartridge for the $$
Koetsu Urushi+SMEV anti skating setting help If possible, use as little anti-skate as you can. Every cartridge/arm combo will yield a different percentage of your VTF. I have various arms and cartridges and have found a good approximation which falls between 25%-30% of your VTF. Dial it in a...
educate me That's IMO a very nice sounding table. Try it out. Decide if you want to upgrade later rather than spend your $1000 and find out that it's not for you.
educate me Just want to share my thoughts on the Clearaudio Emotion....Only buy this when you like fast, transparent, lean and mean sound. Overall, that's the sound you'll get with that table. If you're looking for more meat, look elsewhere.
Record Cleaning Machine I would go for the VPI. There are many advantages to the VPI. It has a platter and washes right side up!You can scrub with the fluid/brush of choice and then rinse with distilled water if required. The NG washes upside down and there is no way scr... |
