Wall wart removal...why no products that can handle multiple devices?
I bought an HD Plex unit precisely because I wanted to have  the ability to power more than one device. The hard part is getting the proper cable terminations, as each wall wart has differing sizes- Which HD can provide, but measuring them is a bi...
Active versus Passive Crossover - Magnepan 1.7i & dspNexus
My limited knowledge in DSP seems to show possible timing errors with it's use. Maggies are time/phase coherent speakers, so YMMV. B
Shipping To Canada?
I had the opposite shipping problem. It came from Canada to the US. And it was nearly $10K. In any case, it worked out fine for all involved. I think you can get additional insurance from USPS, but if you say $700, I believe you. FWIW, if  you d...
What the Best Dac have you heard or owned. How could you tell it was that good.
I owned many Ayre products -Codex, QB 9 Twenty, as well as much of the Schiit line. I got very lucky and scored a Brinkmann Nyquist II used.  The QB9 is plenty good, but the Brinkmann is just has that little bit of clear sparkle. I honestly didn'...
Looking for 50-100 watts of Tube Power (give or take) for my JBL 4349s
Hmm, no Atmasphere's? Bob
Qobuz vs. Tidal
Qobuz user here. I liked it better than Tidal as I can get a year membership and not have to deal with monthly charges. No issues with searches, and I like much of the music it will pick out after my album ends. B
Ethernet cables
As others have chimed in,  Yes. As to why, I have no idea, but they do. Bob
Speaker isolation - spikes on puck, springs, sorbothane
This is a pretty sticky topic. One likes to decouple, the other to ground the speaker. In my case, I use Vandersteen's. Mr. V. believes that grounding the speaker to the floor is the best method.-See his newest speakers- they have a 3 inch granit...
Audioquest Pegasus XLR Interconnects
The new AQ cables from Garth at AQ are, in general, very good. I would suggest that new buyers consider how they interact with each other.  Johnny Rutan made this suggestion, and I have to believe him, as he knows these cables better than most. ...
Handling Heavy Amps
First, a decent dealer would accommodate you by delivering and installing the amps. Especially at your budget. Second, I would be leery of Class D. I tried them and though they sounded good, they just didn’t sparkle- though the bass was excellent...
Moving into an apartment with wood joist floors - worried about neighbors hearing
Though I am a Townshend fan, I think putting speakers on springs defeats the way they work. Instead, using a solid granite plinth would be my recommendation. It will give the speaker a solid foundation to output sound. The lower notes will be dir...
Speaker cable length.
@n80 , Differing lengths will have slight impedance differences -probably not that much but it can affect the sound balance/quality. It also might affect the amplifier. I forgot the right side would have all the extra cabling, not the one under ...
Equalizer to compensate for hearing loss - Any success stories?
My left ear hearing is similar to yours. I don't wear hearing aids, but still enjoy my music despite this.  Bob
Speaker cable length.
I would keep the speaker cable lengths as close to equal as possible. As it is under the floor, you could add some hooks to keep it off the floor- but, don't coil it as you might introduce some electromagnetic anomalies.  Much depends upon your c...
LPS for Optical Network Terminal (ONT)
@brskie , I am interested in your project, too. I have Fios with an ONT that, if possible, benefit from a LPS, but never considered it until now. I was going to add a LPS to the router, but your method makes more sense. Bob
