DbPoweramp Rip
When I play the FLAC version on my DAC it shows incoming sampling frequency is 44KHZ. I am wondering if my rip setting is correct before ripping more or rerip the CDs for higher sampling rate.As djohnson54 stated you're fine from a sampling rate p...
Which watts are the right watts in SS amps?
Go ahead and spend gobs of money on those pure class A amps that burnout after 7-10 yearsAny truth to this? (i.e. is a class A amps life span known to be less than other designs)If so, is there anything that can/should be done from a practical per...
Help a guy out? Renovating home theater system after 10 years and have a few questions.
Where the heck did the OP, vasubandu, go?I think he/she got wise to the fact that in the case of this particular thread, certain folks simply have diarrhea of the keyboard and other dilemmas.
DACs and bass response?
Reading various post by listeners who’ve heard the Benchmark Dacs some have described them as having a "thin" or somewhat clinical sound character. Subjective to be sure and some listeners love its sonic character.True. This is because they use de...
Opinions on best integrated under 10k?
I think your making a big mistake only considering amps with a built in DAC. as digital is currently the most volatile music source, as in changing the quickest. and there are some very good DAC's out there for not much money that will inevitabl...
Oppo hard drive
You may want to pose your question or read here:http://www.avsforum.com/forum/149-blu-ray-players/2821841-official-oppo-udp-205-uhd-blu-ray-player-o...I have a 205 and regularly use a USB stick. I don't see why any external HD wouldn't work.

A Musical Fidelity M6si grants you your wishes and leaves you with enough remaining money for other items.
CD player for heavy metal up to $400
Consider an Emotiva ERC-3 (new). $100 over your budget but well worth it.
Lowering the noise floor
90% of systems these days have enough gain from the source and in the poweramp so a passive pre can be used, this get’s rid of a large source of noise, the "active preamp".Wouldn't that be a moot point if one is using an integrated amp?
Goldenear Reference Vs. Focal Sopra #2.....pocket the $5k difference and don't look back?
...Real music digs that deep so rarely I don't much care what a speaker does below 30...You'd care if you listened to live Grateful Dead recordings.
Goldenear Reference Vs. Focal Sopra #2.....pocket the $5k difference and don't look back?
@contuzziThe only number I "threw around" is the fact that the GE T Refs go down to 12Hz and the Focals 28. That isn’t fiction, it’s fact and manufacturer specifications in the public domain. It was then *you* who felt the need to "rebut" that fac...

12hz..... at 12db.@contuzzi Not sure what you mean. Perhaps you are right "Ignorance is bliss. Truly."http://www.soundstagenetwork.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1770:nrc-measu...
Goldenear Reference Vs. Focal Sopra #2.....pocket the $5k difference and don't look back?
Focal Sopra 2’s and a nice sub to get down to to where the 2's can't reach is the way I’d go. The OPs post is specific to the Triton Reference, not the T2. The T Refs get down to 12Hz on their own and without the need for an external sub. The F...

@noble100 Tim, you have violated the terms of our agreement. You specifically replied "Yes, definitely" to my question that if I stated I was proud to be in the minority you would consider the matter concluded. It has become rather obvious to me th...
Lowering the noise floor
By getting off the grid I avoid all the ills associated with the grid, and all the ills associated with cables, fuses, and the other stuff I already mentioned. Trust me, it’s audible, even on my modest system. I mean, I still can tweak it, right. ...
