Isolation Transformers--Richard Gray or Torus? Ever measured your output voltage ? The Plitron 2kVA isolation transformer they sell to DIYers (SKU # 8575-X0-02), has a 115V primary (I don't know why, with North American standard voltage being 120V?). I tried one many years ago. With my househo...
Furman polarity? Edit: This forum needs post editing capability. Sentence two of the last paragraph should read "Balanced power equipment also usually comes with GFCIs to PROVIDE protection from shock".
Furman polarity? I agree with Rayooo. I have been running balanced isolation transformers for almost 8 years now. Those little AC outlet testers will not work properly with balanced power because the two 60V poles are the same (i.e., neither "hot" nor "neutral"). ...
Captive turntable interconnects; should I modify?? The picture link is valid. It works for me on two different PCs. Try copying and pasting into your browser.
Amplifier current draw/wattage At normal listening levels, I've never seen either my 2-channel or HT systems draw anything over 6A.
Captive turntable interconnects; should I modify?? I removed the captive signal/ground cable on my Denon DP-59L many years ago and have not looked back. I installed a pair of Furutech pure copper RCAs and Vampire ground post. I used pure silver wire between the RCAs and base of the tonearm, where ...
Any experience with BPT clean power center Duraace98, IMO your best bet for unstable voltage correction at moderate cost is proabably a Furman voltage regulator like the AR-1215. Its features include instantaneous shutdown when there is any extreme undervoltage/overvoltage situation. PS, a...
Best solder for rhodium and silver? Cardas quad eutectic solder.
Balanced connection from pre-amp to amp--Need help Marantz Reference is out of touch with other high end audio makers that all seem to use pin 2 hot/pin 3 cold. I have their SA-11S2 SACD player that has pin 3 hot/pin 2 cold, but luckily polarity can be reversed by pressing a button. No such luck w...
Need Phono Amplifier All excellent budget recommendations above. If those are still too expensive, there's the Behringer PP400 phono preamp for $24.99 at LP Gear. Just keep in mind that you get what you pay for, and there's only so much performance you'll get out of a...
How do we remember 1970s amplifiers? I have a mint Phase Linear 400 Series 2, in which I installed DC protection circuitry a couple of years ago. I have all new electrolytic caps waiting to do a total recap, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. To my ears, it is not a bad amp at a...
AC Conditioner thats great for video and bass? I second Equi=Tech as recommended by Systembuilder. I run my main amp on DIY balanced power, based on an Equi=Tech "Q type" transformer (same as used in their Model Q product line). The improvement in bass performance is immediately noticeable.
Binding post upgrade for Classe CAP-151? I guess I must look into that mod. :-)
Binding post upgrade for Classe CAP-151? I guess you don't plan on ever selling that CA-300. A future owner may want to use the RCA inputs.
Upgrade from Classe CA-151 for AAD 2001s Sorry Joe, no experience with Rogue Audio. Maybe someone else will chime in. |
