Grounding ? Shock risk; possible inadequate wire size when ICs serve as ground; noise from having ground current flowing through ICs. (1) If the amp should develop a problem that puts live AC on the chassis, the fault current will be flowing through the IC. D...
Do all toroidal transformers hum? It was actually caps and a diode bridge, not resistors. :-)
Can someone tell me the Class of my Tandberg amp Visit the following link to learn about classes of amplifier operation.http://electronics.indianetzone.com/1/amplifier_operation.htm.
Need Help Choosing a Tube Preamp for a Classe Amp DC won't do anything to an amp. Its one's speakers that are at risk.
Do all toroidal transformers hum? I made a DC blocker as a favor to an Audiogon member a while back. There are a could of circuits floating around the Internet. Its easy enough for anyone with decent DIY skills to accomplish, just remember you're working with electricity.http://im...
Do all toroidal transformers hum? I would not worry about hum that is audible only two inches from the top of an amp. Virtually any toroidal transformer, even of the best quality, will buzz to some degree if the DC level on the AC power line is high enough.
Distortion with certain CD's and players Seconded on the passive attenuator. I have an old Pioneer DVD player in which I installed a ganged volume pot to attenuate the output. I simply found a suitable location on the rear panel, cut the connection to the R+L output jacks, and connected ...
What is my power conditioner up to? "From what I understand, all amps have built-in power filters. The better the amp, the better the filter." Where did you get this ? A small number of high end audio manufacturers may include circuitry in their products to filter RFI/EMI interferen...
Multipal Dedicated AC Lines vs PS Audio Quintet ? I have the transformers installed in a single chassis, with each transformer feeding its own duplex receptacle. I use premium parts are wiring throughout.http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/191557/2083672http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/191...
Multipal Dedicated AC Lines vs PS Audio Quintet ? It does not hurt to have separate dedicated lines for analog and digital if you have electrical panel space and are willing to spend the money for installation. However, I have been using multiple isolation transformers on a single 20A line for ea...
question about installation of 20 amp wall plug You should not use a 20A receptacle on a 15A circuit, regardless of what the audio retailers say. This is not allowed by the NEC. There is the potential for longterm overloading of the 15A circuit.A typical household circuit breaker will trip in t...
has anyone had a CLASSE AMP CA300 modded The bolts are very thinly plated plain brass. In addition, the mounting hardware is steel and is in the audio path. The terminations are ordinary tin or zinc ring terminals -- not great materials. My upgrade is to WBT Topline posts with pure coppe...
has anyone had a CLASSE AMP CA300 modded If this ringing is a problem in the CA-300, it should also be a problem with the CA-200/CA-400/CA-301/CA-401, since they all use virtually the same style heatsinks and transistor mounting method.
has anyone had a CLASSE AMP CA300 modded I have upgraded the IEC power inlet and output binding posts of my CA-300 but that has been it. The input buffer OP amps may be worth upgrading. Also bypassing the +VE and -VE rails at of the output transistors as in the CA-301 versus only two poi...
Classe DR-5 Pre-Amp Users Is there a reason why you can't change the gain resistors that are installed in the preamp now ? The purpose of adjustable gain is so that you can use virtually any cartridge of your choice, versus being restricted to specific cartridges that will... |
