Maintaining an Even Keel. Thanks for the reminder David, I'll check my transport this afternoon. I imagine EARTHQUAKES could really raise hell with a system-- not so cheerful a thought. Craig
Toslink Cable Upgrade? I found the Kimber toslink ($50.) to be an improvement over an inexpensive Rat Shack toslink, but I've had no experience with the Monster. Craig
one whiskey, one scotch, one beer Hi David; I agree re that song. But all of GT and the Delaware Destroyers CDs are well recorded and yeah, they rock. One of my favorites is the live recording of their performance in Atlanta-- well recorded and excellent music. GT is a throwback t...
Why Anchor Speakers? While I personally agree with the reasoning and experience of the above posts, I would note that John Dunlavy (Dunlavy speakers) does not use spikes on his well regarded speakers. Why? He just says that they don't "measure" better with spikes. I j...
Thanks to a fellow A-gon member Hi Sd; I too have exchanged music compilations with Charlie-- excuse me "The Vet", and he is a gem of a guy. Between Charlie and my daughter, I've become a Lyle Lovett fan. Charlie's attitude really exemplifies what high end audio is all about-- t...
Hi-End Business Hi Paint; I live in southern Oregon too-- on the coast. I'd say there are easily a dozen gun stores in Coos county but exactly zero high-end audio stores, including HT. Population of the county is about 50K. I've been into high end audio for 10 ye...
Can $15,000 Sound As Good As $75,000? Hi Hwy61; I've wondered the same thing myself, and have come to the conclusion that I could be very happy with a system in the $15K range. Like you, I have about $40K in my main system. And as I look back on the decisions I've made, I feel quite s...
Best Value Speakers?? I agree with Drubin and Sd re Vandersteen speakers as being great value(s). Specifically, I would recommend the 2Ce sig., MSRP $1500. Cheers. Craig
Bit perfect copies Virtually by definition, all CD recorders make bit perfect copies. Can you imagine a manufacturer trying to sell a CD recorder that does not make bit perfect copies? I use the Pioneer 739 (now 839), and it makes excellent copies. Good Hunting. Craig
Music that You Have JUST BOUGHT, and can I just picked up this Lucinda Williams CD (as noted by Jayboard, it's titled "Essense"), and it's certainly destined to become a favorite of mine-- great music, and well recorded. I liked the track "Get Right with God", what do others think of it?...
Should 2nd. Buyer Receive Guarantee ? I'm glad to see that someone mentioned Bryston, their 20 year tranferrable warranty is exemplary-- and I don't even own Bryston equipment. When I purchased two Levinson components used, their customer service rep. asked me to send him the serial n...
PC Challenge Test Results Jhunter; I too enjoyed reading your thread and the ensuing posts. Thanks. Craig
Music that You Have JUST BOUGHT, and can ......my thanks too Stereokarter-- this is one I've been waiting for. Craig
How many would be surprised? Not ultra thin, but Kimber PBJ is definitely on the skinny side and it used to be almost be a "standard" of sorts for low cost but decent ICs. Kimber's Silver Streak looks much like PBJ, but is silver and pretty thin. Craig
Which is better RCA or the Balance ......I also agree with Abstract7-- well said. Cheers. Craig |
