Advice on recording audio CD-R's .......I'd just add that it is important to keep record level below "redline"-- my Pioneer manual recommends that and it's been my experience too. If record level is set too high, mids and treble become very harsh quickly. Craig
Advice on recording audio CD-R's Hi Sd; Stereophile, not too long ago, reviewed a couple of consumer grade CD-R/RW burners-- you could find the review issue listed in a Recommended Components issue as both players were recommended. I believe a $500. JVC and (I think) a Denon or M...
How Do You Clean Your CD's? Avguy-- sometimes you bust me up, LMAO ;>) Cheers. Craig
Tube pre sspwramp vs sspre tubepwr .......nope, the ARC 100.2 is a 100 wpc solid state amp-- check at www.audioresearch.com Craig
Are they truly balanced? All of Sonic Frontiers present pre-amps, ie the Line 1,2 and 3 are fully balanced. The new SE versions would also be fully balanced. But you're right, you have to specifically ask a knowledgeable rep., or see literature, of the product to know for...
Upgrade Vandy 3A's or get larger amp? I had my 3As up-graded to sigs a year ago and don't regret it. As noted in the above posts, it had the effect of opening up the whole upper music range, and the soundstage. But really, over time and as money permits, I'd look to up-grade both. I ca...
Have you "lied" to yourself? Felthove; as you've already discovered, you've asked a tricky question, and maybe expected predictable responses to it that you're not getting? I'm not trying to be confrontational here either-- just want to present my observations re your thread....
Who R U? Congratulations David. A great thread, and I think my favorite-- hope it keeps going. Is 200 posts a record? Cheers. Craig
Hate to ask...... It's pretty much all been said in the above posts. Nice post Kelly, I agree. But I take Swampwalker's approach to the issue. I enjoy TV movies and have a sort of minimalist and half-assed HT set up in our family room. But two channel is where I ha...
Harvey Rosenberg R.I.P. In Harvey "Gizmo" Rosenberg", we lost one of "our own". Craig
Tube v. Solid State / Analog v. Digital Dekay and Albert are right on. I would just add that these topics have been heavily covered in previous threads and posts, sometimes heatedly I might say, and you might do a search for them. Good Luck. Craig.
Pet Stories Shortly after having my Vand. 3As upreaded to sigs., we got a part siamese kitten. I've had chickenwire around the 3As since (almost a year)-- that's right, chickenwire. It looks like hell, but does the job-- mids and highs ARE a little "wirey" th...
What is the best digital cable? I compared the Madrigal AES/EBU directly to the comparably priced Cardas (each about $300. MSRP) AES/EBU-- each one meter. The Madrigal was extremely detailed but lacked pace, rhythm, and timing. This was between ML 37 transpot and ML 360S DAC. Th...
Toslink Cable Upgrade? Massvm; Maybe the worms are loose? I'm certainly no expert in these technologies, and my observations were based on listening tests rather than on engineering considerations, and I'm comfortable with that. But I do think there are average copper w...
Who's Hearing What? Big Changes Coming Feeling diplomatic today, I'll agree with both Kevint and Sugarbrie. Digital technology is going to continue to proliferate, but I also think there will also always be a "high end" out there whose objective it is to improve on whatever the "mainst... |
