12AU7 tubes for a Rouge Audio Sphinx V3 Integrated
Not a Sphinx, but FWIW when I had a Rogue RP7 (driving a ST100 I still have), my favorite 12AU7 type in the primary position was the venerable Amperex 7316.  It was the most dynamic, holographic, with just the right amount of "sparkle".  The Amper...
Does dose anyone see these speakers in real?
Confused, the beginning of the description states "give out a luxurious bass (frequency response 16 - 27,000 Hz with an error of 3 dB),"  then says "On a technical approach, the speakers feature an impedance of 5 Ohms, a frequency range from 47 Hz...
Magico Ultimate III - $700,000 Speakers
You could run those with a low powered SET.  16 ohms, 114dB sensitivity...   Someone with 700K+ to spare probably would run them with something much too powerful... and very expensive.
Aidas Durawood Rainbow Cartridge "Review"
Nice!  Fellow Aidas user here (Gala Gold), also on a Clearaudio (Ovation) with Tracer tonearm.  It's a great match!  The resonant frequency of the Gala on the Tracer is ~8-9 hz, and I suspect your Rainbow is close to that, so pretty good there.  A...
What is the “World’s Best Cartridge”?
On the Grado Epoch 3... How the hell does a $13K cartridge have an elliptical stylus?  At least give me a microline or similar. Can you imagine shelling 13K for a cart and hearing IGD?  That would hurt.  On topic, there is no best cartridge, like ...
Phono stage options - balanced with XLR both input and output...
Zestos Andros Deluxe 2 (I own one) has balanced inputs and transformer coupled outputs.  Overall It is VERY quiet, and is at least as quiet as the solid state Pass XP15 that preceded it.  Using quiet American NOS 12DW7s and 12DF7 IIRC.
Aidas Cartridge
Based on the Hifi News test record, the first tracking test is the "Tracking Ability 1 (300Hz L+R At +15dB)". Seems on my system a typical LOMC present SLIGHT distortion or a warbling tone on this. Previously a Lyra Delos sailed through it, and of...
Is $2,844 too much to pay for a fuse?
Paying thousands of dollars for a fuse is pure insanity, regardless of whether they make a sonic difference or not.  However, if they contain quantum tunneled dark matter and antimuon alloy, then it's totally worth it.
Aidas Cartridge
On the subject of Aidas-- I recently switched from Benz LPS to an Aidas Gala Gold.  The Aidas is lovely.  It is NOT starkly different than the LPS, but the Aidas has more treble extension and mid range detail.  Instrument timbre is rich, perhaps w...
All New Furutech PROJECT V1 Power Cable The New KING Of Power Cables ?!
That V1 PC review is some fine creative writing.  I like this part: " The guitars are fiercely stingy, they drill inside our brain like a drilling machine at the dentist, yet they do not fall into being overly offensive. They still carry appropria...
Duelund/Mundorf Ultra Loudspeaker Purifiers
I'm curious about these.  Would these work with a bi-wire cable setup?  I'm all bananas, so not sure if these would even fit.
Use or sell/replace Oppo UDP-203?
I use my Oppo 203 as a transport (and for bluray/4k movies)into an external DAC, and it performs flawlessly playing CDs.  While I'm sure there are better transports out there, the 203 does well.  That said, the prices for Oppo players are insanely...
Rogue Audio and Audio Research Comparisons
I want the Apollo monoblocks so bad, just can't quite justify getting them right now!  I have no doubt they sound fantastic.  To me the Rogue sound is detailed, a bit muscular (for tube amps), with sweet, yet accurate not overdone treble.  My prev...
I finally purchased a new Integrated Amp
Nice, she's a beauty.  If I were to downsize, I would go a similar route with a Luxman Integrated.  They just sound and look beautiful.  Congrats!
Rogue Audio and Audio Research Comparisons
@samzx12   Yep, the Stereo 100 does respond well to tube rolling, and I agree that the stock JJs are unimpressive sounding, and on the thin side.  I've done a fair amount of tube rolling in the ST100.   If you can find a pair of CBS 7729 tubes for...
