Would Audiogoners be interested in this? Excellent idea. I agree that it would be useful to have links directly to sites that have samples to listen to as well.
Help this budding Classical audiophile A very interesting, but hard to find disc is Niels W. Gade, violin sonatas 1-3, Bratchkova, CPO 999 644-2. Romantic-era violin and piano; I wish I had known about this composer a long time ago. On Naxos, I recommend Glazunov/Dvorak violin concerto...
What does Holographic mean to you? I recall a radio station in MI claiming to broadcast in Carver's Sonic Holography with much hype (1980 or 81 I think). They prefered late night broadcasts of Pink Floyd and Genesis, if I remember correctly. Never could figure out how they expected...
Enlighten me please http://forum.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/fr.pl?gmusi&1068086503&openflup&8&4#8See the comments of Abex, 11/8/03 and others on this thread for more enlightenment on this issue.

Any recommendation for a modern FM tuner Ryanmh1: "I've been told that one of his "modified" units measured around 10dB channel separation." Although 4yanx has composed a very reasonable response to your opinion, I would like to emphasize that you do not state any real evidence other tha...
Your Favorite, Most Outstanding Guitar Solo How about: "Are you going with me" Pat Metheney Group, and Steve Hackett on "Everyday" and "Firth of Fifth". Mwilson-that must be the first Hawkwind plug I've ever seen at this site (from a closet fan).
Pat Metheny Group Fans....Speaking of Now on DVD Of the many times I have seen these folks play, I am reminded of a show in the mid-80's in Grand Rapids MI. The audience was quite subued, and then they played First Circle about half way into the show. The crowd was dead silent for a few moments ...
Whis is better B&W CDM 9NT or Signature 805? In my opinion, there is probably a fair balance of pros and cons between these two that require a personal listen, as you intend. I contemplated the same issue and ended up w/ the floorstander since I deemed it to be more kid-proof. I had visions ...
Modest proposal, change the Audiogon rating system Excellent idea...but I'll throw out a potential issue that may be of concern. I recently purchased an amp that had one bannana hole that was too large to get a nice contact. The previous owner may not have known this, but the buyer can only hope t...
Warrenty and lifespan of cd players I still use an old 1st generation Denon cdp on a secondary system. It will be eligible to vote and join the Army in a couple months. It has never failed over the years, but the sound is clearly darker (pun?) with associated HF harshness, in compar...
Neutrally sounding CDP with a good resolution? I never seem to see any discussion of the Cary 308-T (tubed model) here, but it upsamples, plays hdcd, has very nice resolution on the higher frequencies, and a smoother tube sound for the lower midrange. A bit pricey compared to the others mentio...
Which integrated? Musical Fidelity A3, A3.2, A300? In my opinion, any of those 3 would probably be very good choices - a very smooth and quality sound for low $. Buy whichever comes up, but the higher-powered A300 might be better if your speakers are relatively low efficiency (I seem to remember t...
Medieval-style music Good web resources include:http://earlymusic.orgPlenty of information and links! I also like the early music radio programme "Harmonia" broadcast from IU. Web site:http://www.indiana.edu/~harmonia
Tweeter height - how to compensate? By chance, is the back of the sofa at or perhaps slightly above ear height? Maybe the sofa is damping the sound just behind your head and thus you percieve the sound to be different 6" above the tweeter. Just a thought... |
