Shipping large speakers to Canada from US
Rqd:Never thought about having the buyer at the border. Brilliant!Jeff
Shipping large speakers to Canada from US
Sharri:My best bet on this, if you are delivering yourself, is that you will have to pay the GST and PST taxes at the border. Get a receipt and recover the cost from you buyer. Do advise your buyer ahead of time of this possibility, however. Other...
Bryston B60 or old 3B + .5B
Matt:Bryston makes superb equipment. However, I seem to recall that the original 3B occasionally had a problem. I had one and sent it back. I do have a 3B ST which is a real gem.Play safe and turn down the older 3B.Jeff
Seasoned Mcintosh Fans lend me your ears & advise
Sal:Bingo! You hit the nail on the head. I have been a Mac fan since 1970. In the LONG RUN, nothing else comes close.Jeff
No computer??
Rives:Carry on! I am 62 and do all my research online. I even create websites just for fun. The point is, without a computer, I never would have found you (and we would not now be having this discourse).Don't underestimate the potential of this me...

Jalen:You asked about the 6100 specifically. The 6100 was as good as the C26/MC2505 combo. I sold the 6100 to my brother-in-law about 10 years ago and it also is as good as day 1. He is using CD's and vinyl with a preference for vinyl. He is drivin...

I bought my first Macs in 1970 (C26, MC2505 and MR73). They are currently used by a relative and they look and sound as good as the day they came out of the box. To this day I still use Mac stuff and have yet to find a unit I didn't like. This inc...

OT: Windows XP Update Service Pack 1
I hate to break the mood but I installed this without incident. Everything works as it should. Maybe my 2 Gig and 512 RAM made the difference. But yes, it was a long download. I wish I had known ahead of time!Jeff
25 customs/tax fee to ship audio to Canada ??
I agree with the above. I have had many items sent from the U.S. to Ontario. No duty ... but PST and GST are unavoidable. FedEx and UPS then add their own brokerage fees. Therefore, the $700 sounds about right. Mind you, if I bought the same used i...
Buying from other countries?
Have not yet tried "overseas". The question specified "outside the USA". In the case of Canada, it's about as risky as sending to the state next to you. USA-Canada transactions are a "no-brainer".As for the others ... ???! Do some homework.Jeff
Humming noise in speakers
Elevick:Which conditioner solved the ground loop problem? I don't have a conditioner yet but run into the occasional loop gremlin.Jeff
THX type speakers vs. traditional music speakers
For THX type, read THX hype. THX, like others, may come and go. But a good speaker is a good speaker (label or no label) - and that lasts!
Review: Bryston 4B-ST Amplifier
I have listened to the 4B and loved it. I have a 3B which is built like a tank. The detail is fantastic and the bass incredibly tight. The main point, besides a "sane" price, is the warranty. 20 years and transferable! Does anything else come close?
What is your most beautiful component?
I have been a Mac fan for years. Love those lights! My fav --the MC2000.
