Is louder better?
I still forget with my planar/ribbons, that they ARE in fact playing loudly, they just sound not as thinkly loud as the driver-based speakers I have owned. Took me a while, but now I recognize that tradional cone driver "thickness", as distortion....
Raise your acoustic panels or die
"Cry bullies". LOL! I am stealing that one, uncledemp! My panels have been sitting on the floor for a while now, raising them being one of the dozens of "important" things to do around the house. Thanks for the reminder, will raise them soon (I ho...

I've just received a second SG in the mail, a third on the way. Just listened in my bedroom system, one SG near the NAD amp, closer to the left speaker than the right, the other SG near me. It sounded very good, seemed more natural and lifelik...

Jazz for aficionados
I mostly listen to jazz recorded by my friends, cellist Peggy Lee, Dylan van der Schyff, Mike Herriot, Hugh Fraser (RIP), Ian McDougall, Dan Lapp...Anything by Ethan Iverson (saw Billy Hart at the Blue Note, backed up by the spectacular Bad Plus,...
I admire Miles Davis, i admire Stravinsky; but i loved Chet Baker and Scriabin...You?
Funny, I love Stravinsky and Miles Davis, but only admire Chet Atkins and Scriabin (sound/colour spectrum be damned!).
Stereo systems are like Harleys
I thought you were gonna say "because the low frequencies of both hit you in the groin"!You have to give a nod to the pirate spirit of bikers...until it crosses the line.I remember, decades ago, hitchhiking across Canada, after the band vehicle br...
FUSES, Finally!?
This thread could put just enough doubt in a sucker with deep pockets, to spend $200 on a fuse, just to check if there is a difference.Do audiophile fuse companies let us try them at home before we buy? Any fuse shills here, who will send me a cou...
