Some famous reviewers have atrocious listening rooms!
I just finished Stereophile’s review of the Klipsch La Scala. Obviously we all know they are super sensitive, super dynamic & can crush just about any other speaker out there in terms of pure undistorted volume with not that many good watts. ...
AUDIO SCIENCE REVIEW and $50 to spend.........
You're a good guy Prof. I by the way have no conviction that my view is correct. It is only a viewpoint. I actually no longer believe that tube amps are superior to solid state, only different. I also have come to believe that vinyl is objectively...
AUDIO SCIENCE REVIEW and $50 to spend.........
@prof  I have complimented your writing, you ability to convey listening impressions, and even your taste in components many times.  In my very humble view, ASR caters to objectivists. ASR is the audio equivalent of populist politics. Beguiling ...
Whole reference system was stolen, need budget friendly integrated. Help Please!
It does not but I make no accusations and pass no blame. But no, what you say above does not clear things up a bit. I've been in the industry way too long. No way did your agent come out once a year to verify your possessions and then the insurer ...

How can you sue your insurance company for a first party claim? As an insurance lawyer I can tell you that in the vast majority of States, yes you can sue your insurer despite any mandatory arb provision. To hold otherwise would be circumvent e...
So Weird- No Stylus Contact Woofer Pumping with Hana ML and Elac PPA-2
@lewm  No problem. You are one of my favorite contributors on this Board so I'm glad to have that cleared up.

@lewm  lewm 11,075 posts 02-16-2023 at 09:46pm  fsonic, I don’t know what I said to make you so angry, but you DID write, ..."or degauss the current mat, or put a blocking capacitor somewhere." And this is what led me to believe that you were...
So Weird- No Stylus Contact Woofer Pumping with Hana ML and Elac PPA-2
Uh, see my previous post. You can still try it and report back. I suspect the problem goes away when you remove either the record or record and mat because the spinning magnetically charged item (record or mat or both) excites the improperly conne...

@mitchellcp  Just for grins-even though you don't want to undertake onerous steps-please try switching the neutral and ground wires at the clips. Should take you less than a minute. I am sure you know this-use your fingernails and not pliers.
Do I buy an upscale TT?
After hearing at a dealers a Kuzma Safir tonearm and having heard this system many times before but with a 4point I can say the tonearm transformed the sound more than any other piece of gear. Yes it's an expensive arm but I'd say buy it rather t...
Did vinyl sales just hit the proverbial brick wall?
I don’t know why this thread went off the rails so early but since it did, I am a Steve Earle fan and yet I find The Mountain unlistenable. I don’t claim to be a blue grass cognoscenti but I do appreciate good blue grass and The Mountain is not go...
Do I need 10 gauge power cord if I have 10 gauge from panel?
I think I have a pretty nice system. Yesterday our internet was out and left with nothing else to do I sat down to listen to my system with my vinyl rigs (what do you streaming-only folks do if your internet goes down?). The first side or two soun...
A question about headphones
Not all headphone outs are made equal. It’s not just about high output impedance. Some headphone outs are afterthoughts in a design process...others are dedicated if you look at the internals. For example, a series of resistors on a dedicated ma...
Audio Research i/50
I think it is a very safe bet that ARC's DAC module will deliver top level performance. Remember that without the power supply, output stage, and casework to expend resources/cost/labor upon, ARC can devote a much greater percentage of that cost t...
Atma-Sphere Class D… Amazing
I just don't like living with something that takes 30-60 minutes to warm up before it sounds it's best, how I have to manually bias them a couple times a month, how their sound is always slowly degrading over time and must be replaced every few y...
