How Do You Live The Audiophile Life
IMO the UTMOST importance is to know what actual musical instruments sound like in various venues..If you don’t know what the real thing sounds like you will NEVER have a really good system.. After you know what to listen for start with reviews re...
your opinion on buying an older Simaudio i-5 integrated
IMO that amp is a WONDERFUL sounding amp but shouldn't cost more than about $500-600.00...Yes it is Dual Mono but only after the primary Power Supply winding(1 transformer)& will drive the LS50's just fine & sound great...
Vintage Tannoy Gold vs Harbeth 30.1

Vintage Tannoy Gold vs Harbeth 30.1
Haven't heard Tannoy's in 20 years or so but I have demo'd & lived with a lot of speakers in my time...NEVER in my life had better sound in my home than I do with the Harbeth M30.1's!!!

IMO,you absolutely must be a bit of everything until you get your system to a point where the gear transcends existence & only the music remains..Some people never get there, either by choice or pig headedness not sure which.
Does anyone collect something else other than music.
I have a small, very selective, automatic wrist watch collection & am active in an online community...Mostly Professional grade Divers watches,NO Rolex or Omega,I’m much more selective than a brand I can see a dozen of in any financial district ...
Tube Preamp with Solid State Amp?
^^^ @ clearthink, to"dip a toe"in any waters is to start as small as $ possible with maximum gains..An inexpensive tube buffer would exhibit all the basics of how tubes affect the sound including true staging & instrument separation, depth of s...
Tube Preamp with Solid State Amp?
If you just want to dip a toe in tube waters you could add a simple Tube Buffer. In a basic system such as yours it would make an immediate & positive impact on the tone, imaging & staging, cost about $100.00 +-...
