The best speaker for a small room...at any price point.
Raidho D1.1's.  Absolutely amazing and perfect for a smaller room.  If you want slam type dynamics, maybe another choice.  Maybe the Magico A3's.  I would also audition some Harbeth's or DeVores.  Depends on the type of music that you like to list...
As good as it gets?
Think about Revel Salon 2.  Came out in 2008.  It's been 11 years since Revel has come out with a new flagship speaker.
Recordings by Elton John, Nirvana and Thousands More Lost in Fire
NY Times is leftist propaganda from the first page to the last page, every single day.  There is barely a story that isn't slanted progressive.  It's trash.  And if you can't see that, it's sad.  But of course their business is in the toilet.  For...
How many of us are truly satisfied with their systems?
tostadosunidos-- I agree totally.  I am 100% satisfied with my system.  I am not satisfied with the fact that my music tastes equates to a lot of poor quality recordings!  When the recording is great, my system sounds fantastic.  Couldn't be happi...
Used vs New vs Vintage vs Floorstanding vs Bookshelf vs ..... OMG!
I agree with soix-- get out as much as you possibly can and demo as many speakers as possible.  Every listener will have different tastes!  And every speaker will sound different.  My only frustration with this hobby is that even though I live onl...
How come Horn + woofer designs are not more popular?
roberjerman-- I have a pair of Speakerlab 6WA's sitting in my basement, I bought them in college in the late 70's, kept them because I knew how good they sounded.  Haven't taken them out to listen, but might do it this weekend.  Have a Hegel H360 ...
Best integrated/power amplifier under $6000
Hegel H360.  I own it and love it.  250W per channel into 8 ohms.  I can't attest to the DAC as I don't use it.  Maybe wait for the H390??  Phenomenal integrated amp.  Drives my Raidho's so well.  Can't imagine another integrated that will do better.
I need bass
I agree with genesis777-- add a sub first!  I added 2 JL Audio E-110's and the change is amazing.  Not only does it add bass, and highly refined and not boomy bass, but also increases dynamics and slam. I listen to rock mostly and have a pair of R...
Marantz PM10 class D amp
Depending upon your wattage needs, I would recommend either a Hegel H190 or a Hegel H360 (which I own).  Just fantastic, musical, dynamic, detailed, and resolving amps.  H190 is $4000 which outputs 150w per channel @8 ohms and the H360 is $5700 an...
I want to be moved and have the music touch my soul!
Honashagen has it right. I have an Oppo 105D and it sounds fanstasic with the right equipment.  I have a Hegel H360 and Raidho XT-2's.  With good recordings, it sounds like the musicians are in the room with me.  Ansuz cables.
Black Cat Silverstar BNC to BNC
Question re: BC Silverstar Mk2 (or any digital cable for that matter): I have read that cable length is important-- that you use at least a 1.5m cable to prevent bounce-back reflections.  In email back and forth to Chris (maker of BC cables) he sa...
Do any of your Rolling Stones recordings bring "Satisfaction"?
I agree with geoffkait. The ABKO DSD CD's sound great.  That is before the Stones got control and didn't care about the sonics on their own label.  It's a shame, really.  Exile sounds terrible and there is no way to fix it.  I have 4 different cop...
Differences between cd transports?
@tweak1 are you saying the Wireworld Starlight 8 coax?
Differences between cd transports?
The Hegel has a built in DAC, and apparently it's really good (I've never used it!!)
Differences between cd transports?
@tweak1 I also have a 105 and use XLR's out to my Hegel H360 integrated.  Wondering if coax out (with Black Cat Silverstar MkII coax cable) might be a better option for red book CD's.  Should I give it a try?  Was thinking about Wireworld, but eve...
