Powered speakers show audiophiles are confused Why I will never buy another active speaker: My $2500 sub with massive D-class amp inside, died after a decade of service. There is no practical way to repair a D-class amp. Sorry, but if I were to spend any amount of money on a speaker, I would...
Best way to keep REL sub from “hopping around” at high volumes +1 for the Auralex Isolation Pads. Have the Auralex Isolation Pads under both of my JL Audio subs, on a hardwood floor, and I have no issues at all with vibration with the subs or the floor. And I listen at high volumes. Highly recommended.
Speakers: Anything really new under the sun? Borresen, Magico, YA, all pushing the envelope-- but also very expensive. Listen to Borresen if you get a chance. The best speakers in the world IMHO.
I heard a costly system from Esoteric. In defense of Esoteric, the K-03 was released in 2010, 12 years ago. The current version, the K-03XD, has gotten this review (taken from Music Direct website): Well this is something completely different. I've not had it that long and am still r...

Best speakers around $130k? I would audition the Borresen Acoustics 03 ($60K) and the 05 ($100K). Borresen is the guy who put Raidho on the map, moved on and started his own company. I own Raidho, they are incredible.
CDP or Transport and DAC? Recomendations? I have the same question. For me, SACD playback a must. There aren’t many SACD transports out there. I have decided to wait until Esoteric comes out with their K-05XD and K-07XD SACD players. The K-03XD has been out awhile and gotten rave reviews-...
Advice needed re: new CD player purchase @jeroboam: you said you wanted SACD!
Advice needed re: new CD player purchase Do what I'm going to do. Buy the Esoteric K-05XD or the K-07XD when they come out in the next month or two. Look at the reviews of the K-03XD (retails for $15K, way above my budget) which came out over a year ago. Going to audition the 05 and t...
Esoteric K03XD I have not heard it, but go to Music Direct and look at the one review of the K-03XD from a buyer/owner:Well this is something completely different. I've not had it that long and am still running it through its paces but I'm coming to the conclusi...
For SACD fans only I'm leaning towards the Esoteric. For a couple of reasons. First, I've read some reviews of the Esoteric K-03XD. Second, it's one box. Read this review of the K-03XD on Music Direct:Well this is something completely different. I've not had it t...
For SACD fans only @8th note: thanks for the comments. I think that is why PS Audio decided to go with the D&M transport (Denon & Marantz) in the new Perfectwave SACD transport. But you have a point. Esoteric uses what could be considered the best transp...
For SACD fans only @tweak1: Thanks-- that looks really interesting, I think that I'll try the Furutech sliver first. |
