Has anyone seen the new Meadowlark Swift?
I heard them for quite a long time at the NY show with Rouge tube electronics. They are very impressive and at their price very tough to beat. Additionally, they are fairly efficient and have a benign impedence making them very tube friendly inclu...
Coincident Super Eclipses with ARC VT100
Regarding the vt100, I heard it with the Proac 2.5 and 3.5's(maybe 3.8's?)both outstanding speakers and both were outstanding with the vt100. The list of speakers that work well with the vt100 is endless. Only speakers with very low effiency and/o...
Coincident Super Eclipses with ARC VT100
I have heard the super eclipses(SE) and the vt100, but never together. The SE's are wondrful speakers that are usually used with low power tube amps because of their high efficiency and impedence. They produce wonderful sound with the Atmasphere S3...
Watt Puppy 6 with tube amp.
IMHO, tube amps are the way to go. I don't own a pair, but have listened to them several times at a local dealer while audioning cartridges. The solid state amps(no names, not the point) that I heard with them sounded cold and very hifi. FWIW, the...
Best SET amp for Coincident Total Eclipse speaker
You don't need a high power amp with the total eclipse. It's efficency and impedence are optimal for low power tube amps, push-pull, SET or OTL. You don't give a price range or the room room size you plan to use it in, but if price is no object I ...
Turntable Stand
If price is no object then this gets easy. The Ric-Rax stands are both effective and, IMHO, drop dead gorgous. Unfortunatly, the price may cause you to drop dead. Around $3000 depending on options.
Alon triwire cable
I too have the lotus and am using the black orpheus cable triwired. I would not be so fast to blow off the orpheus as inferior cable. It was developed to be a reasonably priced way to triwire their speakers as the cost of triwiring their speakers ...
entry level power solutions
You might want to checkout the Mapleshade records website. They offer inexpensive powercords, IC's and speaker cables that are excellent for the money.
Really dumb question about Atmasphere amps
Finally, I get to answer a question on Audiogon with a definative answer. This is not a "dumb" question. How do I know this? Because I asked exactly the same question to Ralph Karsten (head of Atmasphere) when I first saw the S30 at the HiFi-99 sh...
MC Cartridge Suggestions?
What kind of price range did you have in mind?
Powering ProAc Response 2.5's
In your price range, the Audio Reseach classic 60 would sound great with the 2.5's.
Quad 63 amp advice
Unless your listening room is small or you listen at relativly low volumes 25 watts is really not enough. The speaker is not hard to drive but assuming an average listening room and volume level around fifty watts/ch would be a resonable starting ...
Turntable/arm short list suggestions, please.
I would also look at the recently released VPI scout/JMW 9 which goes for $1500 new for both turntable and arm. It appears to offer an awful lot for the money plus a defined upgrade path should you desire that in the future.
help please. i need opinions of high output carts
It sounds like you love the marantz and would like to keep the grado statement. This is probably the best idea as the statement is pretty high up on the analog food chain and IMHO, going to be hard to top with a high output cartridge. There are be...
help please. i need opinions of high output carts
If your talking about the top of the line grado statement the original had an output of 0.8mv and the current version is 0.5mv. There is a "statement" series which covers the entire price range all having an output of 0.5mv. The "reference" series...
