Power cord upgrade
I had a Anticables PC on my Aurender N150, I thought it was good, I use Anticables speaker wires and they blew away my Wireworld Equinox and Audience AU24... But I use Acoustic Zen on everything else, interconnects are AZ Absolute etc, and I love...
Amp Stands - Wood or Stone
I say wood, look up Butcher Block Acoustics they make all kinds of stuff in rock maple and walnut, they will custom make you anything and not charge insane prices...  Wood is more of a natural musical material IMO.. Like a violin or guitar, it sh...
IsoAcoustics GAIA
@baylinor yeah they are very study and well engineered, I was hoping to love them. They probably work for most speakers, but in my system I got a better soundstage and smoother sound with the carbon fiber pucks from Amazon and then a round piece ...
IsoAcoustics GAIA
@baylinor I'm pretty sure the rubber used in Isoacoustics is sorbothane...
IsoAcoustics GAIA
I tried them on my JBL ti2k and like you say the bass got a little tighter, but also leaner, and the mids and highs got a little harsher... I ended up sending them back and going to carbon fiber speaker spike floor pucks on top of high duro sorbot...
Best streamer, don't want Roon, don't want a screen, A DAC is OK but not necessary
I haven't heard Innuos but I love my Aurender n150, paid retail $3500 and it was worth every penny.  I have a big library of CDs all ripped in .WAV and it has a built in slot for a SSD hard drive which has my library on it. It sounds dead quiet, ...
I Sold my CD Player!!! Streaming sounds so incredible!!!
@carlsbad it's not that I don't believe in flac or aac, I have half my music collection ripped in aac because many years ago I need to save disc space, so I have heard lots and lots of "lossless" audio, and I have  extensively compared albums in a...
I Sold my CD Player!!! Streaming sounds so incredible!!!
@carlsbad2 not sure what your getting at but your statement that there should be no discernable difference between local ripped files and streamed is incorrect. When I listen to a CD at WAV resolution it’s anywhere from 500 to 800 megabytes of da...
Isolation systems
I luckily own 3 sets of Ganymede Vistek Isolation pucks, they have a bearing inside and when set up correctly your components "float" ... They are awesome like a equipment upgrade, so smooth, analog, musical etc... BUT they are out of business and...
High end bookshelf speakers for Small room
Borreson is pretty nice even with the Chinese made cabinets on those entry level models... But I personally try to keep China stuff out of my hifi and my golf bag, I have enough Chinese made crap that I can't avoid Look at JMR (Jean Marie Reynaud...
Replacing Capacitors, I Don’t Wanna!
I just picked up a Mark Levinson no 27 amplifier from a client I believe the amp is from 1989-1990 before Levinson was booted and company bought off... After testing it one channel sounds lifeless, no bass, tinny... I took it to the repair shop a...
I Sold my CD Player!!! Streaming sounds so incredible!!!
I haven't played CDs in a long time, but I still buy CDs very often.  I bought a Aurender N150 a couple years ago and it is excellent, but the reason I went with Aurender over Roon was the built in hard drive. I have Qobuz and use it sometimes, ...
Integrated Suggestions for a Garage System
In my shop I have a pair of Ascend acoustics old CBM 170s I bought 20 years ago mounted in the corners.. powered by a ATI 1202 amplifier I had laying around, and I bought a Audioengine B1 Bluetooth receiver going to the amp that has a decent DAC c...
Basically happy, but…
Personally I like Acoustic Zen, the Absolutes are great, so is Matrix Reference ... So holographic and natural and takes you to the room where the recording happened
Looking for a great front ported bookshelp speaker recommendation
I have a pair of Jean Marie Reynaud (JMR) Trente bookshelves for my office set up and they are awesome front ported speakers, so smooth and non fatiguing and very musical. They are a French company that has been around a long time.   The Trente'...
