VAC Owners: Balanced or Single-Ended Cables??? Bebop86 - if you send me an e-mail, I will be happy to share my experiences - don't want to hijack this thread. FWIW, new cables just got put in (Except spkr cables) and am going RCA between amp and pre - the sound is glorious and NOTHING is broke...
Choice on a $3,000 to $5,000 SS amp My vote is to pick up a used McCormack DNA-500 and never look back....... 500w/channel into 8 ohms; 800w/ch into 4 ohms. Plenty of power, great detail, transparency, musicality, etc. Just a really great amp. ALthough I've switched to tubes, I will...
VAC Owners: Balanced or Single-Ended Cables??? Kevin said to try both, which I did. Balanced was a little "quieter" due to some system noise that is now eliminated. Single-ended seem a little more palpable to me. Currently using Nirvana SX Ltd balanced between my VAC amp and pre-amp. By the en...
Synergistic New Tesla Line...Any comments? Ozzy - I am going through a similar dilemna with SR cords. FWIW, I put an Apex Tesla on my TUNER (CD player should be back from Alex today or tomorrow), a Hologram A on my amp (replacing Elrod Statement) and the Precision Reference between amp(VAC...
Von Schweikert synergy There is a great synergy with my VAC Phi 300.1 and VR-7SE's. Even with under 150 hours on the speakers, the sound is remarkable. Also, as has been mentioned above, Albert and Kevin have shown very successfully together, as both realize there is a ...
Amplifiers:A Keeper for Life. Do you know of one ? Pubul57 - I also did not do a VAC vs "the world" contest. My prior amp was a McCormack DNA-500, which I still have and which will eventually go into a 2nd system, hopefully. I listened to a wide range of both solid state and tube amps ranging from...
Amplifiers:A Keeper for Life. Do you know of one ? For me it is easily the VAC Phi 300.1. An amazing amplifier.
The best speaker you ever heard? Just got a pair of Von Schweickert VR-7SE's and after barely 80 hours of break-in, they are already something very special with my VAC tubes. Way too early for a full review - I am starting to realize why people rave about these speakers worldwide...
How to insure shipping large speakers? I believe the Pilot web-site is www.pilotair.com.
Out of phase breaking in, Anywone ever hear of it? VS Audio regularly uses this technique to break-in their speakers and did this to mine for me.
Does anyone have the new VAC Phi 300 amplifier? I've now had some time to break in my 300.1 and I am very impressed. In a nutshell, it just does everything extremely well. Its the most revealing, dynamic and musical amp I've ever heard. I haven't been able to hear what the amp and my gear can R...
How to insure shipping large speakers? Just received large speakers shipped by Pilot - no problems. This seems to be an "under the radar" shipper, but they did a great job - apparently several speaker manufacturers use them with excellent results.
Personal speaker evolution Great thread....Kef C-40s(1985)(music not yet a hobby, plus never home; currently in my basement, along w/Yamaha processor of the same era), then Def Tech Towers(1997)(still watching mostly movies), then Legacy Focus(2000) (starting to listen to 2...
How to insure shipping large speakers? Update- Just shipped using Yellow Freight and a pallet with excellent results. The pallet was definitely the key - it keeps people from doing dumb things, most of the time.
Legacy focus 20 20 speakers RE: room treatment - I had very good luck with the folks at Echo Busters about 5 years ago calling their 800#. At the time they also offered a money-back guarantee if not satisfied - don't know if they still do that. Good Luck. |
