SME V arm and what cartridge?
Thanks for the suggestions so far guys. Jtimothya, I love the Lamm and Sasha pairing. Let me put it this way, I don't know for sure if Lamm can bring out the very best of Sasha, it certainly does an excellent job but I can tell you for sure that a...
Speaker suggestion for Lamm ML2.1 amps
I should have mentioned, I have Wilson Sasha's and Lamm M1.2's right now. Superb combination. I just don't think the Sasha will be an easy speaker to drive for 18w amps with their rather low impedance that dips into 1.8 ohms.... Therefore I though...
Wilson's new speaker the Sasha is coming.
Dave_b, you are twisting my words out of context. I said "slightly darker up top". Again, I am not familiar enough with the MXR amps as this was the first time I heard them to really know if that is the sonic character of the MXR or the Sasha. Tru...
Wilson's new speaker the Sasha is coming.
No I bought the Sasha because I found them very musical and engaging and a bit smoother/forgiving overall. The Sophia 2's are great speakers but the Sasha elevates the bar especially in the bass. I like the slightly warmer tonal balance as well. L...
Wilson's new speaker the Sasha is coming.
I've auditioned the Sasha yesterday. Driven by all Ayre gear, the C-5xeMP, KX-R, MXRs and Transparent cabling, the speaker sounded surprisingly warmer and slightly darker up top than most other Wilsons. The Sasha sounded engaging and musical and w...
Acoustic Signature Turntables
I am considering a Mambo. What do you guys think would be a good choice for a tonearm? Should I step up to the MK III and go with a lesser arm or a better arm and Mambo?
Turntable on a $5k budget?
Thanks again for clarifying the issue of suspended vs. non-suspended tables. This opens up my choices greatly. I will start a new thread on the tables I have interest in. Again, thanks for your help.
Turntable on a $5k budget?
Everything I've read so far leads me to believe that suspended tables are more forgiving of vibrations in the room. Is that not so? Like I said, my floor is not a concrete slab. Now I am confused.
Turntable on a $5k budget?
Thanks for all the replies guys. Many valid points. I don't have many LPs but my CD collection is over 1200 so far. I don't collect music just for the sake of having a lot of media, I tend to listen to music I like often and I don't get tired of i...
McIntosh MA 6500
I was responding to nomail who seems to have the MA6900.
Guilty Pleasures....
There is no need to feel guilty, what needs to happen is to build a system you are happy with and stick with it. An audio system is a tool for playing back your favorite music. That's all there is to it. Once you leave the obsessive compulsive beh...
Sacrilege Going from Tubes back to Solid State
Well, the Odyssey Stratos sounds nothing like McIntosh or tubes for that matter so for a guy who is used to listening to tubes would be a completely wrong advise. Here is a quote for TAS review on Stratos: "The sonic character of the Stratos kept ...
Sacrilege Going from Tubes back to Solid State
Since you mentioned McIntosh, I can tell you that MC402 is a very pleasant sounding amp with a warm midrange that just sounds "right" and not artificial at all. Bass is plenty deep and well controlled, while some say it's lacking the last bit of i...
Hail to Mcintosh
Hantrax, you are correct about the resolution of the 501's. Adding an MDA1000 DAC to drive the 501's directly has resulted in a tremendous amount of resolution, air and focus to my system. The MDA1000 retains all the analog warmth of the McIntosh ...
Why do no audio enthusiasts use McIntosh?
Strange, my wife and many of our friends that come over our house have always complimented the looks of my all McIntosh gear. The looks of the gear are highly personal choice and as always the "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". Not that I nee...
