Amazon One and dps Turntable Experiences? Lohan thanks for the additional information. Which arm are you using?
Cart recommendations for MG-1 tonearm I've been watching for a reply to your query and can't resist replying any longer. The MG-1 looks interesting although the maker isn't selling it outside the US at present. Outlier who posts here has fitted a Zyx but did have problems with it jumpi...
Damping fluid/grease for Mayware Unipivot? When I had my first Hadcock I was told that STP worked well. A tip I've heard is that radio-controlled model shops sell silicone damping fluid which is identical to hifi silicone fluid - apart from a more realistic price tag.
So my wife says to me this morning That's the classic dilemma with this stuff - the best sounding isn't always the best looking.
Amazon One and dps Turntable Experiences? I heard a dps with Schroeder Reference and Zyx Airy 2, also at GT Audio. I have not heard an Amazon.I thought the dps sounded wonderfully fast, dynamic and lively, no doubt helped by the arm/cart combination. Pitch and timing were spot on - I coul...
How long does a stylus last? I have had a Koetsu Black that I bought second-hand in 1986. I got 10 years use out of it before the stylus degraded.I've just had it re-tipped by Benz Micro for 200 (the cantilever and suspension were fine).
Will Michell Technoarm work with Denon 103R? I met Conrad Mas, the designer of the Avid turntables at the London high end show yesterday. The Avids work by routing vibration induced in the disc through the spindle/bearing into the subchassis. What I thought was particularly interesting was th...
Will Michell Technoarm work with Denon 103R? Technoarm is based on the Rega RB250, same as the OL Silver. Both are classed as medium mass arms and should work fine with a DL103. If there is a difference in effective mass it shouldn't be sufficiently different to cause you problems.I've just ...
Airtech MG-1 - any experience? Yes, it's 6.5 grams, over 50% heavier than the Zyx, and it's slightly more compliant - 20 cu, which will also help in a lightish arm.Good luck! Let us know how you get on.
Music Boy/Petra interconnects - where from? Jean thanks, I checked the direct link and the shipping policy - the minimum charge is $30 international shipment.Big thanks to Rlwainwright who's kindly offered to do a personal redirect for me.What a fantastic community this is!Happy listening y...
Airtech MG-1 - any experience? I think you might find the DL-103 even worse, certainly it's a lower compliance cartridge, although in its favor it's heavier (which will increase the effective mass of the arm/cart). Worth a try, as is asking Ada about a higher mass armtube.After...
Music Boy/Petra interconnects - where from? Thanks John. I was a bit puzzled by the link, but did a product search and found the interconnect. Reading the small print though it says: "Relay fulfillment center ships only to the USA, Canada and US Possessions."So whilst we have US military ba...
VPI MK III + Alphason Xenon or Thorens 160 + Opal? My first decent turntable (25 years ago) was a TD160 with a Hadcock and Dynavector moving coil cartridge. It sounded great then and in its day the Thorens didn't receive the praise and recognition that it merited, largely due to the over-hyped Lin...
Airtech MG-1 - any experience? What cartridge are you going to fit to your MG-1 lnoriel2000?Outlier, thanks for your response. I checked out your skipping thread and couldn't help wondering whether th effective mass of the MG-1 armtube is too low for the Zyx cartridge. The Orig...
Idler wheel drive vs Belt I have had a Linn for about 20 years (serviced and brought up to latest spec every 2 years) and remember being blown away by Linn/Naim demonstrations at hifi shows in the late 70's. Recently, I've upgraded my cd player and it blows the Linn away. ... |
