Anyone with a high-end home theater sans sub? First of all johnmcelfresh, your Meridian DSP8000's HAVE POWERED SUBS BUILT INTO THE SPEAKER! (what, like 6 8" ACTIVE woofers?). Essentially (no, correction, DEFINITELY!) your speakers are high end active minimonitors sitting on a powered bass mod...
Anyone with a high-end home theater sans sub? Yeah, you defintely need powered sub(s) to help that sytem respond like the soundtracks were designed, that's all. If you like what you hear, then it's all good. However, you are indeed missing the full impact of what's intended...nothing more, no...
Which way to go? Meridian 568.2 or Lexicon Mc-1 v4 Lexicon-yuck...Golden Theater/Shower...double yuck.(bright, thin)Bose Lifestyle?...now that's nice stuff, boy.For everything else...There's "BestBuy"

Thoughts on Plasma, LCD, DLP and which way to go If you need flat, I'd look at LCD or Plasma. If you want a "flatter big-screen", old CRT still beat up on LCD/DLP for pic quality...and they're WAY CHEAPER! You don't do computer or video games on CRT though, ideally, and they're a bit heavier.Stil...
Aerial or Dalis? ...or building home theaters, or having lives with thier spouse/mate and families, and don't have time to post...not doing the "loner thing."
Very BIG Room? Music and Home Theatre Challenge Lol...Cwlondon, it sounds like you'll not end up with more dedicated "HT speakers" anytime soon, ey?!!You know, having sold "quality high end audiophile" speakers over the years, I would say the statement "a good speaker is a good speaker" is abou...
Very BIG Room? Music and Home Theatre Challenge I still say he's better off with good active-woofered higher end speakers like MTS prelude Infinities. This will tremendously help you overall, as you wouldn't have problems integrating your woofers and mains...thus no separate subwoofers. I know,...
Very BIG Room? Music and Home Theatre Challenge "...I have no desire to replicate what I hear in movie theaters. I certainly hope we can do better than that." (Unsound).I beg to dissagree with Unsound, but you can't really!!!...especially for movie soundtracks. The Things a good horn setup(espe...
What's up with Talon? They sure aren't selling the heck out of their speakers, that's for sure. Good enough sounding speakers, probably not a good marketing Co. however...
Very BIG Room? Music and Home Theatre Challenge BTW, really in that large room, I'd be covering the concrete walls with 2x4" framing with drywall to help soften the sound. The hard walls will make your sound, well hard! Good for Viagra, not your sound system. You need balance here, not unyieldi...
Very BIG Room? Music and Home Theatre Challenge Nope, can't do the Maggies for your room/application...pass.It will be a dynamic downfall for you, and you'll be the only one excited about the prospect of good sound in the room. I would recommend higher dynamic output systems, like Infinity Prelu...
