Best integrated ever made ?
Badwisdom,a link to the glowing French reviews would be nice. some of us DO understnd French. Thanks
SACD : why ?
I always think of Betamax vs. VHS when I hear a discussion about formats. The FACT is that Betamax was better in nearly everyway, yet due to marketing, software availability and other factors we all bought VHS machines (or else lived to regret it)...
Need your suggestions on Amps/Pre-Amps ...
I had been using Bryston Equipment and tried out alot of Krell, but ultimately I decided to switch to the Musical Fidelity A3cr pre and power amps. These do not have the massive power of a 4B-ST or 7B-ST, but unless you are playing at huge volumes...
25 foot bi-wire speaker cables that won't bust the bank?
After looking around alot I think that I am going with Analysis Plus Biwires (oval 9 for bass and Oval 12 for treble) I found an amazing deal on a demo pair. And they seem like superb cables. I'll let you know after they arrive how they sound in m...
Upgrade question
I was in exactly your shoes a few months ago and have upgraded everything except the CD player (mine is an ARCAM). I found the Musical Fidelity A3cr preamp and power amp to be phenomenal for the money. I got both slightly used, but even new the pa...
Which integrated amp for Talon Khorus?
Musical Fidelity A300
SS or tube preamp? Which one?
Not to ingnore the invective, but for useful suggestions. The Bryston SP-1 is and excellent surround Sound unit and also VERY respectable for 2-channel. The Bryston components have great synergy when used together. The tube SS question is too meta...
Red Rose R3s vs. Proac 1sc vs. Dynaudio 1.3SE
I have not heard the three you list, but I would add the Sonus Faber Concertos. They are just under 2K new (plus stands) and sound phenomenal for little speakers. For small speakers, they have really good bass.
New All in One or Just a DAC?
For $1000 you could get the Musical Fidelity A3 CD new with 24/96 Burr Brown DACs (I have seen a few used for around $750, but they are rare). It's Stereophile Recommended "Class B" and is indeed built like a tank. I think that in this price range...
Favorite sounding interconnects?
I'm very skeptical on silver. I still think high quality copper is what most systems were designed for. I have had great luck with TMC cables. They sell them factory direct from Australia and you can either bid on them here or negotiate prices dir...
Preamp expriences? Good value amp
I just went through a similar time of trying to find anew pre-amp in the same price range as the Rogue Magnum. I should say that I am not really a tube guy, but I did check some out. I also looked at the Muse Model 3; though I concluded to really ...
Seek Integrated for 1000 dollars, new / used, suggestions?
For new gear, you could use the Musical Fidelity A3 ($995)or if you can spend more and want more power, the A300 for $1500 (You might find either of these used but they are not common). Both are superb and have been recommended by Stereophiole, et...
Solid state amplifier $2K Used or New
Noone has mentioned it yet, so I'll throw in the Musical Fidelity A3cr. I know one can't go just on reviews, but it is Stereophile Recommended "Class A" and sells for $1500. I believe that upscale Audio is selling them with a moneyback guaranty (l...
Who is selling Musical Fidelity Now ?
As I said in my original message, I spoke to AA and they said they are no longer a dealer. They are still selling their current stock as an authorized dealer, but nothing new will be coming in.
Seeking advice from Maggie owners
I've moved my Maggie 1.5QRs through better and worse adapted rooms, without ever regretting them. I find that even in poor rooms you can get a small spot where imaging and sound really blossom, its just hard to enlarge the sweet spot. Even in a su...
