Which Tweeter preferred- dome natural material, Beryllium/Metal or Planar Ribbon? Why? Kapton for ribbon midranges and tweeters for higher power handling, but not quite as smooth as mylar. Aluminum for cylindrical tweeters and midranges seem less harsh sounding than titanium. I've not tried beryllium so no opinion but some swear by ...
biwire? and best way to do it? I like the way mlavinge described it in a post, tri-wired. Three cables tied together into one end termination to one set of connectors. Finshed cables were 2 inches in diameter. I believe the thicker the better both outside AND inside the speakers.
Never Spend More On Cables Than Your Equipment Cost$$$$$$$$$$ Yes I agree, cables were the last upgrade accept for speaker cables. Speaker cables were one of my first. Happy listening.

ESS speakers "Translinear" Transstatic I've loved ESS since first hearing them back in the early 70's. Still have a couple pair with the large original Heil tweeters. One with original mylar and the other with Kapton diaphragms, still sound great to me! Just wondering if anyone has a p...

No buzzing or humming at all. I have battery backup, but still connected to the grid also. Using Enphase micro-inverters, one for each panel to maximize ef...
Why terminate speaker wire? No oxidation would not be an issue in my opinion because silver oxide is a very good conductor. I think your initial thoughts are on track.
JBL L112 That’s a tuff one. I think the new L100’s would sound a bit better, but after all that hard work? The new L100’s have vertically aligned drivers which usually make speakers sound better, but at $4400 a pair, I’d probably keep them. I’m a big vinta...

Nakamichi 600 repair question I would agree with atmasphere, rubber parts. Here's a link to the type 1 on Hifiengine, they also have the type 2. https://www.hifiengine.com/hfe_downloads/index.php?nakamichi/nakamichi_600_service.pdf Willy Herman for service on the west coast...
Usless but interesting ....how many of you old timers started with original Large Advents? +1 large Advents and blown tweeter. I did like all Henry Kloss speakers even though they weren't efficient. |
