larryi - Nailed it.
Thorens 160 motor fix or replace?
I would tend to agree with pesky_w. You could always upload a video to youtube and post a link. Thanks for that info hoytis.
Cabinet resonance problem with Marantz MM9340 amplifier
I've used spray on 3M rubberized undercoat, P/N 03584 on the inside of a CD player cover with success. Good luck.
Is there any one piece of vintage gear you most wished you owned?
I'm working on them now, a pair of Yamaha B-3's. I missed out on a David Berning preamp several years back.
Is rectifier tube arcing a problem?
atmasphere - Thanks for taking the time to educate, me anyway. I have always appreciated and respect the knowledge you and imhififan have brought to the AG forum.👍
Is rectifier tube arcing a problem?
decay - Are you offended? Your multiple comments here were of no value. I was not commenting on you, as I do see that you do make valid contributions occasionally. My comments were meant to encourage imhififan and atmasphere to contribute more oft...
Cabinet resonance problem with Marantz MM9340 amplifier
Contact Marantz and have them fix it for free. This is unacceptable.
Bi-amping
I'm using a home built analog crossover with low-noise / high-speed op-amps. It's 24dB/octave, nothing very exotic. I started with TDM. There are many manufactures to choose from for a relatively low price. Many prefer digital crossovers, I'm just...
Is rectifier tube arcing a problem?
+1 atmashpere too. I'm not a tube guy, but atmasphere has a point about the caps being too large. I ran into this problem while servicing a Sony V-fet amp. Both of you guys know your stuff.
Bi-amping
You can bi-amp with the crossovers still connected in the speakers, no jumpers between speaker posts. Even without an electronic crossover at the amplifier inputs you will still hear a noticeable improvement in sound. With an electronic crossover ...

Finally, some real help for this problem. Thanks for helping to solve problems that the wannabees simply cannot.
What is Tight Bass?
+1 pesky, elliott, realthing - It has to do with the control of the woofer, higher damping factor is a major player in this. It does not have to do with how low a frequency the amp/driver will produce. If you want the deepest bass, it comes from a...
Bi-amping
Always crossover at amplifier inputs. And, in my opinion get rid of the internal crossover in the speakers too.
Speaker cable shootout Townsend Audio Fractal F1, Fidelium, AA Statement e SC Cryo rhodium
Thanks for the link, unfortunately these are out of my price range.☹️ I'm using solid 16 gauge silver for the highs and silver plated 12 ga. for the mids and lows. I'll bet your 9 ga. sound great!
Bi-amping
+1 for both of the above comments. I've been multi-amping for many years. Started in 1976 with just bi-amp and will never go back to passive crossovers again. Good luck!
