Does Heavy Metal music benefit from a high end audio system?
I have never appreciated Metallica as much as I have after putting together my “high end” system. There is no struggle with playing their albums at the levels they were written to be experienced. Nothing helps heavy metal like large woofers and ho...
If Power Cords Don't Matter...
@holmzI went with Synergistic Research Foundation power cables. The friend that convinced me to try new cables uses Shunyata Research power cables. I can’t remember which version he uses. I live in an area without any audio shops. I have drive a c...
If Power Cords Don't Matter...
For what it’s worth, I was firmly in the “how can cables make a difference” camp before I started trying different versions 6 months ago. A friend of mine who has an amazing system talked me into giving it a try. He told me to look at all the cabl...
If Power Cords Don't Matter...
You can add me to the camp that hears a difference with better power cables. I added a set of SR Foundation power cables to my amps and preamp. I’ve been listening to them all week and the sound from my system has absolutely improved. I actually n...

what's going on with specs?

Fuses
Nothing wrong with moonshine. It’s my family tradition.
The "Snake Oil" Trope
The Holo Audio May DACs use custom fuses. It’s considered one of the best DACs you can buy. I think manufacturers are starting to see the benefits.
Fuses
@millercarbonThanks. I know I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I am glad that reference wasn’t confusing just for me.
Fuses
@yuviaroraI don’t disagree with you at all. My comment was directed to the post that assumes we don’t understand what a fuse does. To me it’s obvious that since the fuse is taking all the voltage then changing it would affect the component.I hones...
Should I pull the trigger?
Do it!
Fuses
I thought a fuse was a sacrificial safety device that melts during an overcurrent condition to protect an electrical circuit. So isn’t the role of a fuse to melt if there is too much current in order to protect an electrical circuit/device?
how would you describe a system that is musical in nature
It’s simple. Horns, tubes, and vinyl.
How Do You Learn?
@nonoise Thanks for sharing that link!
Fuses
@rsf507Thanks! I will work on that after I get purple fuse.
