What's the "worst" cdp for the money? And how long 'til this thread gets closed :-)
Has anybody Cryo'd their complete amp-results? When Ted Williams bats for .400 again, that's when I would consider cryoing my amp :-)
What's Your Experience with Digital Switching Amp? I really enjoyed my Spectron 1, driving a pair of Maggie 1.6's...plenty of power to bring out the bass [the 1.6's need oodles of power]. Drove everything with a tube preamp.
alternative to speaker stand spikes? I am using Aurios [set of FOUR, for stability] under my speakers.
Alanis Morissette Jagged Little Pill Acoustic Anv. Chadnliz, c'mon...let us know what you really think :-) I'm not sure about her live performances, as I've never seen her...but your post did give me a chuckle! That being said, I really do think that "Jagged Little Pill" was an audio triumph for th...
Boston Acoustics and Snell bought by D&M Holdings I love to support the fewer and fewer remaining independents. The high end audio industry is becoming a corporate mega-monster! The good news is that designers and engineers producing exceptional gear, yet not having a good business sense, can hav...
Any Warp correction LP services available ? G_m_c, I have heard of the same trick, as well! The record is placed between two sheets of glass in the oven, for an hour or two. I would put some weights on each of the four corners. REMEMBER THAT CUT GLASS WILL HAVE SHARP EDGES, SO HANDLE THE SH...

To further comment on Justin_time's post, don't forget about the "coefficient of expansion" differences between dissimilar materials, which is the operating principle behind your home's thermostat. This is a switching device that works by using a ...
The most placement forgiving planar speaker? Please explain the ventian blind effect?
Tube amp to match sensitive Living Voice Speakers I have always like the sound of Art Audio products.
Linn LP12 Setup Manual and more. WOW! Thanks for the link! I used to own an older [1985] LP-12, with an Ittok arm. The complete history of models and upgrades is here as well. Very interesting stuff......even for non-Linn owners.
Tubes and heat... Jafox, basements are actually pretty well insulated by the surrounding earth; maybe that's why you're listening area heats up so quickly.Forget about Tucson! You wouldn't recognize it now. It's now filled with W.M.D.'s...Wanton Mass Developments! ...
The most placement forgiving planar speaker? I found that my Maggie 1.6's were pretty easy to place. Just need about 2 feet or greater from the back and side walls, if I recall. And as has been previously stated, I wouldn't try to stuff them in a small room.
See it frequently: What exactly is a "troll"? But it's still a fact that transistors will never sound as good as tubes...any "fish" going to bite :-)
Tubes and heat... I live in Tucson, AZ, so I know what you mean about heat! I'm using monoblock Atma-sphere M-60 Mk 2.2's, with 16- 6AS7 triodes running in class A bias! And I also listen nearfield, which means that the amps are about 10 feet away from me.Daytimes,... |
