JL Gotham F212 v2 vs ? Dual Carbon Limited's or dual JL Fathom F112v2's? (and now there is the Carbon Special) I have a pair of Carbon Limited's and love them. They integrate with my Revel Salon 2's seamlessly. I use the high level inputs with wireless RELong Bow (wh...
DAC Choices - $5,000 to $7,000 I checked out the Mojo Audio Mystique (Evo). It look great. But I want an optical input so that I can connect my TV Audio out to my two channel system. At that list price the Mola Mola Tambaqui is very competitive. Also the Tambaqui Streams as...
B&W vs. Sonus Faber +1 for The REVEL Salon 2's. Require good amplification, but to me more articulate than the SF's but less bright than the B/W's. Very full range. Tall, so best to not sit real close. Great for an open room layout such as combined family / brea...
B&W vs. Sonus Faber (I think) B/W pair well with McIntosh because it needs more ‘sparkle’. Similarly Sonus Fabre can take the edge off of bright or harsher sounding SS gear. I did say ‘I think’, right? :) Ken
B&W vs. Sonus Faber +1 Kren0006very different. I have demo’d these both with the same equipment...B/W forward and bright...Sonus Faber smooth to veiled. You sort of need to choose a camp...like tube vs SS electronics.
DAC Choices - $5,000 to $7,000 There is only one reason anything is so expensive...it is worth it. And that is for the listener to decide.
DAC Choices - $5,000 to $7,000 Stretch for the Tambaqui by Mola Mola. You will see it used or checkwith GTT Audio for best price. Worth it. Replaced my PS Audio Direct Stream with Auralic Vega G2 (substantially better). Replaced Auralic with Tambaqui (substantially better ag...
Control volume with DAC or Preamp? Hey UNSOUND:I have the Audionet Pre G2 and the Max Amps. Also the MM Tambaqui DAC.Happy Holidays! Ken
Control volume with DAC or Preamp? I purchased PSAudio DS DAC and BHK 250 stereo amp. I was not thrilled, and added the PSAudio BHK preamp, for no other reason except sound quality. I was rewarded (to my ears) with better overall sound through the preamp. I did not need it for o...
High end Class D amps? +1 jaytor!
High end Class D amps? So what does the A mean?
High end Class D amps? Wow. Class D haters. There are Class D amps that suck and SS amps that suck. It is in the implementation, to a point, without having to discuss which is the Holy Grail. I had PS Audio Hybrid tube / Class D M700's. Replaced them with a used Cl...
High end stereo preamps? Worth it? Some more really excellent posts about how a quality Pre amp with system synergy absolutely enhances an already fine rig. But to my point about not being able to site examples of science, I guess I meant that it is not easy 'to measure' the diffe...
High end stereo preamps? Worth it? clearthinker129 postsMany posts saying hi-end preaamps improve sound. One post saying 'why', surely the additional circuitry cannot improve the signal it is fed with. Doesn't it just add noise?Or does it add some aspect to the sound that these pos...
High end stereo preamps? Worth it? Wise words mitch2. Of course, if one has multiple inputs (beyond your DAC), the decision is easier. I actually only have two digital inputs; ROON and my TV, both into my DAC. Yet, to me, the preamp is indeed worth it. |
