Noob question about streaming . . .
I don’t think you should pay for another DAC, but I do think it’s worth it to have direct streaming of Qobuz or Tidal that doesn’t involve a tablet or phone as an intermediary. I have Roon and while it’s OK, I find the overhead of keeping another ...
Subwoofer Out VS Subwoofer Crossover
You can still set the sun low pass filter lower than 100 Hz if you want.
Subwoofer Out VS Subwoofer Crossover
I'd look at the 701's manual and see what the sub out is doing and whether or not it has a built in high pass for your mains, or a low pass for the sub. Neither is better, but with luck the 701 includes a high pass filter for your mains that will...
Luxman L505u . . . why not?
The distinguishing features from the 505 and 507 and 509 are the additional power supply size and output stages. If you know you are going to play 2 pairs of speakers at the same time the 507 is going to be better.  Also, keep an eye on the minim...
Please help with Roon server/core issue
OP:   Ping times are measured in millseconds, not GBPS.
Please help with Roon server/core issue
OP: Your basic step right now is to diagnose whether you have an internal issue or external.  External should be easy to see via any PC hooked up to Ethernet.  Use Ping and whatever your provider has for speed testing. If that works well, then c...
Please help with Roon server/core issue
Of course, the problem could be in your home.  Try pinging cnn dot com, and doing speed tests to another PC and compare that to what your provider is billing you for.
From B&W 804 D3 to Focal Sopra 2?
My overall impressions are mixed. I did an in-depth analysis on Focal’s years ago, and have been watching the reviews and measurements ever since. My impression is that Focal deliberately makes their speakers either "hard to drive" or "scale with...
Please help with Roon server/core issue
OP: Also be aware that Ethernet cables do get misinstalled, and the ports on the routers do go bad individually sometimes.  Don't assume it must be a good port or switch.  If you have a port going to a PC which is known good you might want to swa...
Please help with Roon server/core issue
Well, Roon community forums are probably better places for such a specific question, but here goes. DNS settings only help with initial stream starting.  Once a stream has started there should be no DNS requests again, unless the connection fails...
Resolving Hum with Battery Back-up (EcoFlow) vs Power Conditioners: success vs failure
I just reject replacing all the wiring as the ground is good, and it is on a dedicated line, and in the end, I found a solution.  I never said you had a wiring issue. You have an unresolved power problem, which could be benign or not.
Wall wart removal...why no products that can handle multiple devices?
If all your wall warts share the same voltage you might be able to rig together something out of a single Astron bench supply.  :-)
Resolving Hum with Battery Back-up (EcoFlow) vs Power Conditioners: success vs failure
Now, getting out of the technical, and trying to assess where the OP’s logic goes awry it is in the refusal to believe he made a mistake very early on: "I have a power problem and therefore a very expensive power conditioner should fix it no matt...
Resolving Hum with Battery Back-up (EcoFlow) vs Power Conditioners: success vs failure
So let me see if I can boil this down. While I’m glad you found a solution, and I believe you when you say you found a solution, your own description of the problem seems to fail to recognize the original issue that led you to a very expensive pat...
Should Amps be plugged into a power conditioner?
Hey @geof3 - I’ve researched and written on the subject of whole-house vs. point of use surge protectors. TL;DR - Keep your point of use protectors even after getting a whole house unit, the main reason is the high (~ 600V) let-through voltages m...
