SQ : Anthem receiver vs. processor
@caphill The proof ultimately is in the playback. :) I want to keep my Mytek Brooklyn in the mix if possible. If the ultimate amp is going to do an A/D conversion on input it kind of defeats the purpose. I miss my Theta Casanova. The DAC was so go...
SQ : Anthem receiver vs. processor
I've been reading a little bit about the Classe Sigma Amp5.It's an interesting creature. Completely in house design, and, unusually, it is a true Digital Class-D amplifier, as opposed to an analog Class-D. So, sadly, all incoming analog signals ar...
SQ : Anthem receiver vs. processor
Hey Caphill! That's really interesting about the Classe amp! I'll do more research before deciding. Best,E
SQ : Anthem receiver vs. processor
@caphillYeah, I've read about the SSP Mk2. It's a possibility. My office just seriously downsized though, so maybe right now is not the time to drop a rent payment on a HT processor. Best,E
Help with direction
With a smaller room, room acoustics are key. Talk to GIK Acoustics.
SQ : Anthem receiver vs. processor
I've thought about the Classe's, and many give them raving reviews for 2 channel. I think I'd like to get something newer. I know I said I don't care about room correction, but truth is I do at least for the sub. @maplegrovemusic This weekend, def...
Experiment: Level Matching Frequencies
@gdnrbob2Not really, assuming you have a decent SS amplifier and reasonable speakers, the crossover and EQ won't interact very much, but your point that EQ should be used sparingly is not wrong. Using EQ well is an art. In the bass, you want surgi...
How important is it for you to attain a holographic image?
The best imaging I've ever heard however was from a HT system running Neo6 in music mode. It filled in the center very nicely.
How important is it for you to attain a holographic image?
Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying there's NO imaging. lots have studies have proven our ear/brain mechanism along with HRTF can localize objects in a 3D space!! I'm just saying, I've heard speakers do it MORE than real. The Guitarron was really i...
How important is it for you to attain a holographic image?
Hey Gang, So this past weekend I heard a 3 piece mexican acoustic band at a restaurant. A harpist, guitar, and something that looked like a very fat guitar, called a guitarron. Interestingly, I could place the harp and guitar, but not the guitarro...
Isolated Ground causes ground hum.
@JEA48 As far as I know, the NEC does not specificity a maximum number of ground rods, so long as they are all bonded together. That's what I am referring to. Best,E
B&W 802D tweeter replacement
As is, you'll have a better chance selling them. As soon as you mod them the value will drop. Alternatively of course is looking on EBay for speakers with the same tweeter. Best,E
Isolated Ground causes ground hum.
OK, so yes, you just created your own ground loop. :) What you can do:  Add more ground rods. Bond them to house ground rod farmRun 1 ground wire directly to the ground rods, and use that for your outlets. Then run phono grounds like normal, from ...
Isolated Ground causes ground hum.
@dangcaonguyen By law, you MUST bond them to the house ground.  You can't just create a new ground field, and run a copper wire to your outlets and call it ground. Best,E
A problem with AC Power you may not have considered.
If you are going to combine shunt with series, the usual way I recommend is with a surge protector in the electrical panel, and series closer to the components. The problem shunt mode filters have (among others) is that the very high currents + so...
