Advice on bookshelf speakers (Sierra 2, Buchardt, Monitor Audio, LS50) Monitor Audio's silver series is sometimes like that. Musical and slightly punchy. Certainly very good value for the money.
High resolution digital is dead. The best DAC's killed it. Next time some one agrees with me I'm deleting this thread! :D :D E
Spam threads gone wild... They suddenly got pretty bad for a while. And honestly, Elizabeth, I've signed up for the black magic get a girlfriend program. Can I have a strand or two of your hair???
Is shielding necessary on interconnects & speaker cables @petware when you know you have a lot of induced noise. :) Like if you are picking up a radio station, or motors or fluorescent lights.
Luxman Integrated - What do they sound like @builder3@jasonsimAll good info,t hanks guys! I have Class D and they need DAYS to warm up, but they idle at 7W each, so I don't mind leaving them on. I’ve also heard some tube gear which really does take 30-45 minutes to sound it’s best.Oddly, th...
Intervention... I need help... Talk to Fritz, he can make you amazing bespoke speakers for small spaces.
High resolution digital is dead. The best DAC's killed it. Even if polarity mattered, and I'm on camp no, then what type of gear we need gets complicated. Most multi-way speakers have 1 or more inverted drivers. A typical 2-way box speaker inverts the tweeter relative to the woofer (but not always). Things...
Is shielding necessary on interconnects & speaker cables Noise vs. capacitance. Most people are fine with unshielded. The shield in a cable acts as a capacitor plate, so it may introduce some rolloff, which may be desirable.
Intervention... I need help... One thing I have noticed is the number of subs and an Onkyo and Yamaha HT receiver. Seems like integration between the sub and the room has been tough, and it usually is. Also I find Onkyo HT products among the thinnest and least inspiring. So, ge...
Intervention... I need help... Um, what of this ownership brings you joy? What is the joyful situation at the end you think you'd go "I'm happy!" If you don't have one, then buying more stuff won't help. May I suggest, based on your request for an intervention, sell everything ...
High resolution digital is dead. The best DAC's killed it. @cleeds Hahahaha, sorry, I meant of music. :) I meant what music did you find it useful to use the switch with. Also, what speakers are you using?? Best,E
High resolution digital is dead. The best DAC's killed it. Every Audio Research preamp I've ever seen has a phase inversion function. It can be very useful!@cleeds Please give specific example. :) Best,E
High resolution digital is dead. The best DAC's killed it. Switches are nice. Having a L to R phase mismatch is not what we are talking about. I'm just saying that if the perceived quality of audio reproduction could be improved so dramatically by inverting the polarity of playback it would be a common fe...
Preserving the sound of the ultimate audio gear for future generations ... Hi @michaelgreenaudioThat’s not how I ever heard or have seen the term "discrete" used in HEA.From my reading, and use, "discrete" is an abbreviation of "discrete circuits" which is the antonym of "integrated circuit." From a practical matter this...
High resolution digital is dead. The best DAC's killed it. I have pro gear that has a phase inversion button. Kind of useful to quickly check things. I am surprised that nobody has this. Amazing that this hobby values fancy cables and the effort that goes into swapping that fancy stuff out but a simple po... |
