Advice on amplifier and B&W speaker pairing
You know you are making a nearly impossible request.  Sonic preferences IS the right answer, and you haven't even gotten the speakers yet. Here's what I suggest though, when you listen listen in the area of music you are most worried about.  Looki...
Possible ac line static.
That sounds more like a cap or diode going bad.  Here's the best test, turn off everything in the house via the panel. If the ticking goes away then yes, it's something else, possibly a router or switch too lose. If it sticks with you, I'd be conc...
Time for the Dynaco to go, Affordable Integrated or Separates for Wilson's Under $2.5K?
Try a used Parasound integrated in the used market.
Possible ac line static.
What does this mean?? What is AC line static and what does it sound like to you?  How old is your amp and pre?
Blue Tooth tube amps/integrated amps/home theater receivers
Hi OP,First, thank you for your service. I also want to suggest, maybe you should unbox your tube gear and add a BT capable streamer or DAC? There’s a very inexpensive DAC ... Topping DX3 Pro I think which has built in BT connectivity. You could ...

How do you get an RCA output to TOSLINK??
End of the World system
Well, a fine mess of a thread I started here! :) The goal was kind of to ask how you’d optimize for size, and not care about cost. What happens to your buying choices when there’s no one around to brag to, money doesn't matter and you have to phys...
Wilson Sabrinas, electronics and Subs
Subs, EQ and good room treatment are always a good thing, but see what you think. :)
More Power or use subwoofer to boost bass for music
@ erik_squires Hi, you seem to be on a crusade to put down something which is valid and sorts out what is a real and common bass problem. I think the recommendations, for a DBA including from myself are in response to an understandable and in...

Fixing bass in a room is not always thanks to bass traps.Having the correct mid/treble diffusion and absorption can also increase the perceived bass by reducing the mid/treble energy, plus better imaging and reduced echo. All good side effects. In...
Music Playback
Wait, your preamp has a DAC, or your preamp has a built in streamer you can attach storage to? A preamp with a USB DAC doesn't by itself have any sort of file browsing capabilities.
You've tried other amps and ended with Pass, please discuss
Nelson's specific recipe has led to many successes that have been proven over and over. Absolutely true, you can't argue with financial success in a heavily competitive market, plus I hear he's a great guy. I don't claim to understand everythin...
Brightness
Audiophiles routinely underestimate the effects of room acoustics on tonal balance. A better treated room can improve this, as well as make the system easier to listen to. If you haven’t looked into room acoustics yet, I encourage you to. Good tre...

I’d like to see Pass do a Class D amp. That would be interesting.  Pass adds a distortion signature to his amps. I wonder if he would create a new Class D architecture which has this, or add a front end to a conventional Class D design.

The swarm was an interesting idea which is promoted by fetishists whose motives and honesty I question. The truth is many modest systems achieved great bass with proper speaker placement, modest acoustics, and soemtimes a sub with an EQ long befor...
