My ears are ready to retire!
a minority opinion here, coming from somebody who dislikes the bose corporation. that said, i was surprised at how neutral and actually GOOD the bose SR-1 cinemate system sounds [with every kind of music] in every room i've tried it in. it uses se...
Better Records White Hot Stampers: Now the Story Can Be Told!
the best sounding records i ever heard, were japanese pressings. of course the MFSL versions sounded just as good but not discernibly better to me despite the half-speed mastering. best of all was a universe of records played on an ELP, that thing...
YOU MUST audition Kerr Acoustic Speakers
for that amount o' moolah, it had better have holographic imaging from any point in the room.
“Black background” — What really contributes to this phenomenon?
i never understood the "black background" bit- any well-reproduced audio lets you hear to "the bottom" as it were, a black background gives a language parser the impression that the instruments [as described by the listener] are heard as coming fr...
Which speakers did you find bright, fatiguing or just disappointing in some way?
Klipsch speakers all were too forward in the upper mids for my taste. the Speakerlab knock-off big horns sounded [aside from the bass] the way i wished the Klipsch Horns themselves sounded [mellower]. also the "little" Vandersteen 1Ci which sounde...
What exactly is textural density??

lil' darlin' by neil hefti and performed by basie's atomic band.
What tests would you like all speaker reviewers to do for their reviews?
thorough battery of stereo imaging tests to check stability of stereo image at various angles outside of the classic equilateral triangle. aside from the maggie tympani III, the only other speaker i've heard which offers stable stereo imaging no m...
New Hobby Ultrasonic Record Cleaning
i thought perhaps i could dip the head of my 4 watt therapeutic US wand into a tub of water with my record soaking in it, until i read the specs of the amazon unit - 540 total watts! i wonder if that is input or output power, though?
What kind of listening chair
a nice firm couch with no sag to it, and solid back and thigh support.
Perfect Pop Songs
"don't touch me there" by The Tubes, perfect mix of stereophonic sound and "wall of sound" production technique.
Why so many angry audiophiles?
some folks can't handle the fact that there are others who differ from them in some way.
Better Amp for Cornwall IV's...
why not try a rega brio? i was impressed with the mellow overall sound of this amp. it is good for about 70 wpc peak power, from what i've read, more than enough for your cornwalls. when you turn up the volume on this baby, you just get more volum...
Does Age Matter?
this oldster prefers digital by a longshot, but can handle phonographic reproduction assisted by CEDAR declicking/decrackling.
