Sound quality impact - preamp vs power amp?
So a line stage preamp is the frosting and an amp is the cake, which can be layered in so many ways.  Both vitally important.
B&W vs. Sonus Faber
MIT cable system seems to be an articulation device that a cable wire flows thru.   Very interesting.  Seems you need a system where weak links have all been addressed and where a final layer of meaningful improvement is worth pursuing,  and possi...
B&W vs. Sonus Faber
Dave__b love your comments. Love to see update of your system.  2015 details of your system no doubt have changed abit.
B&W vs. Sonus Faber
MIT rev spkr cables, very very pricey.  Why do you like them?
How old are you?
21, a blank canvas
B&W vs. Sonus Faber
Dispersion is a trait not given much attention.  Seems really important for a smaller room.  A pain if sweet spot restricts where you sit. Hate that.  Need a wide open stage.B&w being bright seems to reflect a more accurate portrayal of live p...
B&W vs. Sonus Faber
So hard to chose.  Maybe do a blend.  Buy SF for left side and BW for right side.  Best of both worlds.
preamp-how important is separate enclosure for pwr supply?
Pragmasi, thanks. Beyond noise I thought the designers may take on current issues.   Although noise floor measureability seems to be the clear way to judge and if there is no measurable interference then a separate box don’t seem to make sense and ...
McIntosh c1100 vs audio research ref 6se vs Ayer KX-R
Tough to find a good expl on google.  Important issue.  Thanks for info.  This is why marketing info from sellers needs to improve in explaining low vs high impedance relationships between components.

If you drink while judging spkrs, you’ll like anything including Bose

Why is low impedance of a Mac going into an arc preamp with a high impedance a bad thing?
Subwoofer placement - does it matter?
If I need to measure it, it seems it can’t be heard.  Diff spots in room are diff for sound which makes sense.  It sucks that main speakers generally don’t do well with wide dispersion, which is another issue.
Subwoofer placement - does it matter?
The lenghth of a 40 hz sound wave is 28 feet.  I don’t see placement of a sub to matter all that much unless it’s in an auditorium
What does ‘balance preamp’ mean?
Ok, but seriously, what’s the answer?
