What are the best monitor speakers for classical? Green Mountain Audio Callisto, but run them full range and crossover your sub for low octives below the Callisto's range, maybe 45HZ or less. The Callisto's are music. You will not want to eliminate anything they do. http://www.greenmountainaudio....
Upgrade entire system, speakers first The GMA Callisto is perfect for your room. Add a subwoofer in the future and very little can touch the sound for the money. Easy to drive also.Good luck in your search.http://www.greenmountainaudio.com/Speakers/Callisto/Welcome.htm
Playing Customs Games with Our Northern Neighbors Audiogon was built on honesty. It's said that one percent of the population causes most of the problems. If it makes you uncomfortable, let them buy it somewhere else.

KT88 recom. for quicksilver mini mono's In my case, I liked the KT90's in the mini's. They had more depth that the small transformers seemed to lack. In the Cary amp I owned, I switched between the Winged C and the EH KT88's, but the mini mono's just needed more for my setup. The mini m...
KT88 recom. for quicksilver mini mono's With all the debate on the "best" KT 88's, has anyone found them superior in the Quicksilver Mini Mono's? Personally, I know two other Audiogon members and myself who did not care for the KT 88 tubes in the Mini Mono's compared to other tubes. If ...
KT88 recom. for quicksilver mini mono's I personally did not like KT88's in the Mini Mono's, liked the 6L6 tubes, but found the Ei KT90's were the ticket. The sound stage became huge with great depth with the KT90's. I liked the mini mono's so much, I moved up to the Mid Mono's and foun...
TWO CHANNEL AMP DECISION FINALLY MADE Give Klaus a call at Odyssey. He can build you a Stratos in a Khartago case which I believe is smaller. You would have to ask Klaus or a member for the dimensions. Just a thought.Enjoy!
Questions Re: Time & Phase Alignment Call Roy and ask the technical questions. He has always explained anything I have asked and is one of the most intelligent people I know. Great company and service.Enjoy!
Resolution Audio Opus 21 VS Consonance Droplet Have you considered a tube preamp? A friend and fellow Audiogon member swore by the Resolution Audio Opus 21 straight into his amps, but was missing dynamics like you. He solved this problem with a tube preamp and has never turned back. You could ...
Speaker cable for Green Mountain Audio Callisto Petland, I agree the Callisto is a reference quality speaker and it is about time someone said it. Forums and Manufacturers: Are they here to help? Myself, I have seen marketing strategies and those who do damage control as the worst offenders. The best let the gear talk for themselves. I have always had good manufacturers that were a phone call away if I needed to ask a question. Thanks for ...
Speaker cable for Green Mountain Audio Callisto Drubin has a good point as does Winegasman. I went with used Cardas speaker cable because that is what I could afford and was the best cable for the money. I would rather put my money in the Callisto, amps, and front end. I have been very happy wi...
Speaker cable for Green Mountain Audio Callisto I believe GMA has switched to Virtual Dynamics cables as their preference. I am currently using Cardas speaker wire and plan to try others when funds are available. The Cardas wire has been very good. |
