speakers efficiency
1 watt @ 1 meter = 87db2 watts = 90db4 watt = 93db8 watts = 96db16 watts = 99 dband so on.....Every increase of 10db will give a perceived doubling in volume.THX = 110dbUltra THX = 112 dbWith that said, 87 is not very efficient but not too bad eit...
How to get 2 Channel and Home theater in one packa
I totally disagree with these guys. They end up processing music through a mediocre receiver and then run it on a really nice 2 channel rig-it degrades the sound. Also, you really should have equal sound/speakers/amplification through your front 3 c...
L. Armstrong, glue prob, Complete Hot 5 and Hot 7
Is the glue tacky? If so, try your freezer.Once frozen, use a fingernail to chip it off-hey, if it works with bubble gum....Be careful not to crack the disc-hold it on a very flat and hard surface.
Help me with Speakers Now plz.
The revels may work for you. However, I'd rather see you in a used pair of B&W 805's with a nice subwoofer-just a little more laid back than the revels and maybe easier on your amp.
What are best hi efficiency speakers under $1000?
Wow are you in for a change. I've had the bozaks. Great mid and bass but nothing over 15khz or so. Try some Coincident speakers from Canada. They may be as efficient if not more efficient than the bozaks. You should see what they can do with eithe...
How to get 2 Channel and Home theater in one packa
Anthem avm-20 with matching 5 channel amp should fit in the budget (used).
Biamping Question
A lot depends on your speakers. If they are fairly efficient, over 90db, then 100 watts is more than enough.Try the biamping vs either amp alone. You may find that biamping is more difficult with lessor results. I've always had problems keeping th...
What don't you like about these speakers?
If you are driving that far, take your system with you. Make an appointment and make sure they are ok with your gear. Also, discuss with them how many hours are on the speakers you are auditioning. Comparing a new pair to a broken in pair makes a w...
The DACs on my reciever good enough??
I get it.Some of the lesser expensive dvd's have decent d/a's. Samsung, Sony, Philips all may fit the bill nicely. For your own enjoyment, try to get one with different specs than the marantz. That way you can still compare the two.The other thing ...
Point me in the right direction
These things depriciate quickly.Used is usually better if you are budget concious.Early 90's gear may work to an extent. You may be able to find a matching center to your speakers-I doubt it.One thing that I find very important is to have your fro...
The DACs on my reciever good enough??
Personally, I find the Marantz d/a's a weak point. However, a $2000 d/a is still going to be limited by the rest of the receiver's electronics. Don't get me wrong here, I like marantz for the money. However, I don't think you can get audiophile so...
Where to purchase a replacement tweeter?
madisound or speakercity
Best for Least: Power strip, what's best?
Adcom ACE series have served me well.
jolida jd 100 and rca command 5751
Personally, I don't always see a need to use a 5751. It may handle more voltage but, unless your amp can utilize the current, your money may be better spent on nice telefunken 12ax7's.
Yamaha M-80 , C-80 vs. Adcom 555, 565 ,5802
Yamaha M series is unlike anything else they have ever built-in my opinion. The first 10% or so is Class "A" rated power. It is much warmer and smoother than most solid state gear (much more tube-like). I would compare it to threshold, sumo, arago...
