Any News on MQA Lately?
The "re-mastering" comment is (to my way of thinking), key.  If I understand the advantages of MQA, it's that the removal of "blur" requires that they go back to the "analog to digital" point in time and fix it at that point, so when the DAC does ...
MAC Book Pro Computer vs Aurender N100h vs Aurender N10 Music Servers
My dealer steered me to the Aurender N10, when I was having intermittent problems with my Autonomic MMS-5A server, which went back to the factory to have the hard drive "re-imaged".  I record CDs and purchase hi-res files from HD Tracks, all AIFF ...
Has anyone NOT listened to their system for a long time?
My wife and I took the "trip of a lifetime", three weeks in East Africa, including an incredible safari!  Three weeks away from my "man cave" is probably a record amount of time!
Any News on MQA Lately?
Aside from the technical details, I'm guessing that if MQA doesn't gain "traction" in the marketplace by the end of next year, it'll go the way of SACD/DSD.I'm reading that Warner Music is working on converting many of the albums in their catalog ...
Any News on MQA Lately?
The big question will be if the market goes for MQA.  Without a large enough catalog of music, I don't see the DAC makers investing in making their units MQA-compatible.The MQA folks have said that non-MQA-compatible DACs will be able to play back...

Equipment that has made you 'stop' looking?
After 4-5 years of upgrading my hardware, piece-by-piece, to the horror of one of my audio buddies, I think I'm "done" with system upgrades for the foreseeable future.  I've got hardware I really like, "dialed in" to the "man cave", now I'm teachi...
Sopra No.2 Overpriced?
Eric,Back in the late 70's, early 80's I worked in high end audio, back when Yamaha was a "more exclusive" brand.  One week, some folks from Yamaha corporate visited and one of their chief engineers said that, to put a model into production, it ha...
Sopra No.2 Overpriced?
To say something is "over priced" or not, only the marketplace determines that.My friends who consider Bose to be "high end audio" are shocked at how much my equipment costs...so to them it's all "over priced".When I took Econ100 back in the day t...
Am I the only one to opt-out on the Sopra 2's?
I am one of the people who has been smitten with their Sopra No2's.  I auditioned a lot of excellent speakers before selecting them, nothing "wrong" with the other's, just not my preference. When I first auditioned the Sopra's, it was in a smallish...
Best DAC for over 2000
I have enjoyed a PS Audio DirectStream DAC for now about 18 months, no plans to change. My dealer highly recommends the Bricasti M1, thinks it's a step up from the PS Audio.  He's not steered me wrong on any of my purchases.  I'm perfectly satisfie...
Berkeley Dac 2 or PS audio DSD or Schiit Yggs?
I have enjoyed a PS Audio DirectStream DAC for about 18 months now and it still puts a grin on my face!Yes, it does do DSD, but the sound quality from "regular old fashioned" 44.1/16bit PCM is just awesome!Another thing I really like about the PS ...
"Stairway To Heaven" Plagarism court case
I am not an attorney, but I just can't see where this case has any merit. To my way of thinking, if it did have merit, Randy California (the party who was harmed) would have filed decades ago (when he was alive).  His heirs probably got the idea an...

Redbook Keeps Surprising
I own a lot of CDs, rip them into 44.1/16 AIFF files, transfer them to my music server from iTunes.  I also have a few SACDs and have purchased some 192/24 AIFF files from HD Tracks.I must say, the music I have on both SACD & 192/24 sometimes ...
