Tubes for Magnepan’s.
I have Magneplanar 1.7's and power them with a Jolida 502 P with KT 150 tubes.  This is a 60ish watt per channel amp and I find no problem at  my normal listening levels (70- 75 db with peaks up to 90 db or so according to my radio shack db meter)...
Replace tubes in Black Ice 3502p
I have the predecessor Jolida 502P.  I noticed sighnificantly more headroom and a warmer tonality with the KT 150 at 600 mv per Jolida's advice.  I was surprised at the greater headroom since the circuit is not designed for KT 150 so it shouldn't ...
Which stereo amp to try under $30k
Under $30K I would certainly recommend my Lepai 2020 +.  It powers my Magneplanars beautifully. Great bass and a soundstage to die for.
Not Enjoying My Turntable
Getting really good sound from a turntable setup requires a level of involvement and effort that in my opinion only pays off if you actually enjoy doing that stuff (the tactile and involvement part of playing records).  I don't think it's so much ...
I’m gob smacked. What were you’re aha moments?
Hooking up my Lepai amp to my Magneplanars.  Absolutely gobsmaked.  The heavens parted and the entire symphony was transported to my living room.  Other than the fact that it was a little crowded with so many folks there it was just amazing!
HELP!!! I need a “GOOD-CHEAP” preamp solution???
Just spend the big bucks and get one of these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HEQJGPC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc... I know, I know, it's just a joke but I tried it and it sounds surprisingly good on my system >...
Experiences moving from high-power to lower-power system
Interesting question.  My main system has a high power SS "tube like" amp Conrad Johnson MF 2300A with Magneplanar 1.7's.  It sounds wonderful.  But I started wondering what a single ended tube amp would sound like. Obviously it would take a lot o...
I'm thinking about a Jolida system, and would like to know from those in the know!
eag618,Thanks.  Picture taken right next door in Oregon.  Yes, I  talked to Allen before buying the amp and afterwards about recommended tubes very knowledgeable and helpful.  I also talked to Jarred -  I think he has taken over the business - als...
I'm thinking about a Jolida system, and would like to know from those in the know!
I've had my 502 P power amp for over four years now.  Completely trouble free powering my Magneplanar 1.7's.  I also have a very high power SS Conrad Johnson amp available but  I find I much prefer the Jolida (with KT 150 power tubes).  A nice sol...
Appropriate Power for 1.7i's
I think limniscate is way too conservative in his assessment of needing over 400 WPC if listening over 75 dB.  I think that anything less than 1000 watts SS per channel for Maggies  is way underpowered at any listening level.  And since more is be...
New maggie 1.7's ........ need help!
So I assume you have tried both and do have a preference no?  Since we are not there, don't know your layout, equipment, music preference etc etc  why would you care what we have to say?  BTW, it's tweeters in with MY 1.7's...
Best Cheap Amps for Magneplanar Speakers
I agree with frogman's post.  I've been listening to Maggies since I bought my MGI Imp  back in 1980 ( still own that pair) but currently listening to 1.7's.  I have owned and used a variety of high power SS amps ( Yamaha, Emotiva, Conrad Johnson)...
THE WALL---Why?
I find a dedicated 20 amp line sounds better and considering installation cost of such is generally lower than the cost of a good conditioner it's almost a given.  As to why - I'm no EE but I would suspect a "conditioner" alters the supply so that...
Tube Amp for about a grand?
I have a Jolida 502P which works beautifully with my Magneplanar 1.7's.  I got the model with  the factory upgrades for just a little over your number.  It originally came with Tungsol 6550's and sounded great with those.  I recently installed KT ...
Amps which are Great, but either Unknown or Underpriced
I really like my Jolida 502 P with factory mods and Tungsol KT150 tubes.  I also have a Conrad Johnson amp but find the Jolida just sounds better to my ears.  At less than 1/3 the cost of the CJ I would say the Jolida qualifies!
