Resolution Audio Vs. Wadia I did purchase a used Resolution Audio CD50 to compare directly to my Wadia 860x. I preffered the 860x in most areas to the CD50. I especially did not like the way the CD50 handled the soundstage, very unrealistic, no depth and minimal width. I kn...
Best Power Amp for Adcom GFP 750 Pre? I used the GFP 750 with a Pass Aleph 3 and it was a great match. Or if you need more power Aleph 2 monos. The GFP 750 IMO sounds a lot more transparent in passive mode. If your speakers are 89db @8ohms efficient you should be able to get plenty of...
Recommend CD Player with Volume Control Carl-I hope you don't think I was trying to make a fool of you on the topic of digital audio, I'm not and I'm sure you know a lot more about it than me. The main reason I bought the CD50 was because of YOUR rave comments. I'm glad I did, it was fu...
Recommend CD Player with Volume Control Carl- originally I left the player on for a week before any decisions were made. To many recordings to list them all-Yuseff Lateef,Speedy J,Steve Roach,Morton Feldman,Gyorgi Ligeti,Arovane,Deftones are a few. No preamp against the Wadia, just Pass...
Recommend CD Player with Volume Control Sorry guys I'll try to work on my specificity. In my defense knowone else said what they liked about it. I listend to and lived with the CD50 on 3 systems and came to roughly the same conclusion on each. Interestingly I found the CD50 scored the b...
Recommend CD Player with Volume Control I hate to be in disagreement, but I bought a CD50 to see what all the hype was about. I was completely disappointed with it, in fact I found that a Rotel 855 was more enjoyable to listen to. I tried it on 3 systems and it just never sounded right ...
Best used class A amp with Wadia 860x I have an 860x driving Pass Labs Aleph 2 monos with excellent results. The speakers are Dunlavy 4s. Not a trace of brightness or midrange glare. If you really want to hear your 860, put a Powersnakes King Cobra on it, you won't be sorry
Price/performance curve I went over to a buddies house the other day and checked out his system (around 5k) It was great, musical, tight bass and smooth top end. We listened for hours and had a great time. I have a system that is a lot more expensive. When I got home I p...
Need help on one box CD player. The Meridian 508.24 is the best all around player (that is still reasonably affordable) IMHO. It isn't bright or laid back, it just plays music right. They would probably be a lot more popular if they were housed in a 60 lb aluminum chassis.
is there an alternative to PS AUDIO This isn't exactly what you asked but....I have a P300 and since I have gotten a Powersnakes King Cobra, for digital and 2 Vipers for my amps. The diffrences brought about by these powercords was far greater than what the Powerplant does.
Use of Balance Control feature I agree with the others that if all recordings are favoring one side then you should correct your speaker placement or room. I do think that balance control is valuable when it comes to listening to recordings that aren't balanced to begin with or...
Ear Candy: Most startling recordings. The group Coil is famous for their spatial recordings, they use a process called Sidereal Sound, some of the sounds will literally sound like they are happening at the back of the room, it is espetially evident on their Solstice series of EPs. Ano...
Best brand CDR/CDRW! I have only bought and tried one, but I have been very pleased with the results. Tascam CDRW 5000. I use Illuminations D60 RCA digital cable and a Meridian 506.24 player as source. The recordings I make onto TDK 700 MB CDRs are in every way prefer...
Best Powersnake for ARC Tube Monoblocks I recently got Viper v2s for my Pass Aleph 2 monos and I must say I am absolutely thrilled. I already had purchased a King Cobra for my Wadia CD player and was so impressed I got the Vipers for the amps. The improvement was of the magnitude that I...
Anyone Heard the new Powersnakes? Soupcon- I am surprised by your results with the Viper. I originally purchased a King Cobra for my Wadia player and I was so impressed with the sound that I ordered the Vipers for my amps. These power cords are easily the biggest improvments I hav... |
