Favorite composer @ favorite work? My current fav is Threnody for the victims of Hiroshima by Penderecki. Amazingly powerful, very unlike most classical though.
INTERCONNECT-advice from knowers! Thanks Carl, I was thinking that Diamond might be the ticket. I recall you mentioning that you were going to audition Silversmith. I was considering this as well. If you did check that out what was your call on it?
Shelf Material I have not heard it mentioned so far, and I have not tried yet, but maple butcher block is supposed to work great. I have tried the sandboxes, homemade and bought and the seismic sinks too, as well as a lot of diffrent footers. Hidiously expensive...
Options besides the PS Audio Powerplants I bought a PS P300 after reading all the great things people where saying about them. I thought it was great, and was very pleased, but the improvment it offers doesn't even come close to what The Powersnakes King Cobra did for my system. I still ...
Anybody knows about NBS cables? Soblast, I am intriged by your statment that Harmonic Tech Pro Silway Mk 2 has great midrange warmth. That is the exact opposite of my experience with it and I consider it to me its greatest weakness. What system are you using these with?
what is everybody listening to right now Slawney- I don't know what equiptment they use, but as owner of all Tori Amos' stuff I can tell you that some of her earlier stuff sounds even better than her latest one. Also in the same vein and better recorded is Fiona Apple's "And When the Paw...
Aleph-3 Questions I have owned the 3 and now the 2 monoblocks. I have found that Black Diamond #4 cones improve the sound considerably. They seem to my ear to tighten up the bass and brighten up the top end a bit. They are recomended for tube amps I know, but I fou...
Best one box 16-bit cd player I have never heard the Linn CD12, but from my experience my vote goes to the Meridian 508.24
what is everybody listening to right now Radiohead-"kid A" Coil-"musik to play in the dark" Burnt Friedman-"con ritmo" Morton Feldman-"crippled symetry"
Power Cord for Wadia I have a Wadia 860x and use a Powersnakes King Cobra. The diffrence in sound over the stock cord is amazing. I have it plugged into a P300 power plant as well
Wadia? Should You Go Direct In Or Preout If you email or call Wadia they will fax or email you the voltage setting chart. It requires removing the top of the player and flipping a few swithes inside.
Any advice on CD player upgrade? I think that you are on the right track with the Meridian 508.24. It is very musical and gets all diffrent kinds of music right. Wadia is also a good bet, a little more expensive than Meridian, but you can run it direct to the amp and sell your pr...
Musical system for under $2K? Speakers-Meadowlark Kestrel. Integrated amp-Linn Majik. CD Players-Rotell 955, NAD 502, Rega Planet. Harmonic Tech or Audioquest cables. Bottle of Discsolution. I have personally owned and lived with this system. Very musical and works well with m...
A Call for all ALEPH owners I believe the 1.2s are 250w monos (14k new) the 0s are 40w monos and the 2s are 100w monos. I don't know how the SF gear matches. You could probably get away with the 2s to run 87db speakers, but not the 0s if you like it loud at all. I tried the ...
Best Power Amp for Adcom GFP 750 Pre? Passive mode works fine with the Aleph 3, I actually owned the combo. with the volume knob at 2 o clock you can drive 91db speakers to 100db or so. Active mode isn't too bad, but I experienced what Johns said as well, you lose a little detail. |
