Tubed cdp that can be hooked up to amp directly. Tireguy is correct, I even prefer the Wadia players which use digital volume control without a preamp. I have tried it both ways and it has always been preferable straight to the amp. Also there is a lot more bang for the buck when you sink all yo...
Best sounding: Aleph 0s or Aleph 3 ? I have owned only the 3 and still own the 2s, I have not heard the 0s. I would think the 3 is the better deal and probably the better sounding since the 0 uses an additional gain stage. I upgraded to the 2s from my 3 and while it does offer more p...
Can the BAT VK - 150SE's Drive B&W 803's? No problem, they will drive just about anything out there. They act more powerful than the 150 watt rating. I tend to think that the B&W stuff leans toward the bright side, I've never heard it sounding good myself. The 150SEs can also lean tow...
Best CDP isolation device you use? Sounds of Silence Vibraplane, none of the cones or pucks I've tried have even come close to the performance I get with the Vibraplane.
Which Cord Are U Using On Your Stealth? I would get rid of the P300 and do as Warrenh says, get a mini stealth (your not going to be able to power your whole system with the P300 anyway), and yeah they sound a lot better if you use an Elrod signature cord. I was using my whole system pl...

Wadia 860x vs Audio Aero Capitole Mark II 24/192? The 860x was a stock player, no upgrade. I wonder why if the upgrade to the stock Wadia players makes them so much better Wadia doesn't just make them this way to begin with.
Wadia 860x vs Audio Aero Capitole Mark II 24/192? Well I think I might just be the guy to answer your question. I owned prior to the Capitole Mk 2 a Wadia 860x for 2 years, I also kept the Wadia for a few months after getting the Capitole Mk 2, so I was able to do some head to head comparisons. T...
Speaker Cables My 2 cents is that Harmonic Tech is knowhere close to as good as Acoustic Zen cables. I have owned both as well as many others including Nordost SPM, Silversmith, NBS, and most recently a 2 month demo of Audience cables. I am without a doubt convi...
Speakers for Bryston 4B-SST I have a friend who has the Bryston 4 (an older one) with Maggie 1.6s and I can't believe how good it sounds. All in all his system is the biggest bang for the buck I have heard. Your listening prefrences would seem to match very well with what th...
Speaker cable bi wire for NHT 2.9, VK-150SE VK5 SE I used to own the 150SEs, and they sounded great with Acoustic Zen Satori or Hologram speaker cables. I also have the MIT T2 and either of those would be a huge step up from the T2. Boy you need some better speakers to mate with the 150SEs, NHTs a...
HELP blown speakers I talked to Silverline and it appears that the midrange driver is what failed. Apparently these are rather fragile compared to the other drivers in the speaker. I'm gonna replace it and keep my fingers crossed. Thanks for everybody's help.-Ryan
HELP blown speakers Thanks guys for all the valuable information. I have been using the Silverlines and Pass amps for some time with no problems. Recently I did add the Pass preamp and got rid of my mixing board. The sound is so much better than the Mackie mixer I wa...
Looking for speaker choice advice..... I would get the Maggie 3.6, I have a friend who has the 1.6s with a Bryston amp and they are awesome, the bass is very good to. It doesn't get all the way down there, but what you do hear is very good. Another friend has Vandersteens, and while mu... |
