The 5 Jazz Recordings You Would Take With You...
David S. Ware "live in the World"Cecil Taylor "Conquistador"John Coltrane "Stellar Regions"Tim Berne "Science Friction"Eric Dolphy "Out to Lunch"
Any Tool fans out there.
Tool is great and I think you have started with by far their best album. Aenima is also really good as well as Opiate. This was my favorite rock band of the 90s and I saw them live a few times which was a real treat. I know I may be in the minorit...
Is USB overrated as decent digital source?
I have an Ayre D1xe player over 10K, and I just bought a Wavelength Cosecant USB DAC a couple of months ago. The Cosecant is every bit as good as the Ayre and when you add in the benefits of having you music in itunes it's the clear winner.
Looking for All-a-round speaker $3k range
Gotta know what system will be in front of them, that will dictate mostly what speakers you will want to look for.
I love my Vandersteen's but . . . . . . . .
I don't think your amp or any of your system is at fault, you are just ready to step up from the Vandersteens for sure. The Vadersteens are great, but slamming dynamics are not thier strong suite. I'd skip on the Dunlavy reccomendation as well. I'...
Uno Vs Kharma
I have gone from a AG Duos with Audiopax 88s to a completely solid state system and couldn't be happier. I actually built the other system in another room and slowly began to relize that I liked the sound of the solid state gear better. The solid ...
Price of Audiopax
YOu should be able to get a used pair of 88s between 6000-6500, I've even seen a pair listed on here within the last 2 months for 5700.00.
recommendations with 7500 budget
I had the JRs and now have the SRs. The SRs are a lot better. I still think the JRs are great speakers, but the SRs just expand on their excellent stregths in all aspects. If you are looking for something totally different and aren't completely ha...
Aesthetix Calypso vs. Ayre K-5xe
You may have a problem mating the Calypso with your Ayre amp. I have heard there are serious and unsurmountable problems between Aethetix and Ayre gear.

Need advice trying to record LPs to PC
Cmo-How long does it take you to edit the tracks on the Masterdisk before burning them to disc?Is it possible to put these directly into itunes without burning to disc first? Thanks, -Ryan
Ayre / Aesthetix hum problems?
The guy I bought an Ayre V5xe and the seller sold it for this same problem. He was just a little more in love with his Aethetix preamp than the Ayre amp, so it had to go. He even went as far as to send both the Aethetix and the Ayre to Ayre and th...
poor vinyl
I have to agree with Coffe nudge. If somone says the record is near mint then it better be, just like if you sell a piece of gear on audiogon and rate it a 10/10 it better not have any scratches. I don't think it's too much to expect to get what w...
Solid State Preamp w/ PHono and with tube sound
I second the Ayre K1x reccomendation. This preamp is the best piece of gear I have ever purchased. Totally transfromed the sound of my system and I was comming from a CJ Premier 17 tube preamp. I've never heard the phono section, as I use an outbo...
